My HCG Diet Plus One

Posted 08-17-2010 at 12:22 AM by arknsdeb

About us.

My 15 year old son had a pilonidal cyst excision March 4, 2010. I had been packing the huge open wound since two weeks post op. Needless to say, he was so tired of this nightly ritual. After missing 20 days of school and trips to the doctor every 2 to 3 weeks and no healing, we were beginning to think this thing would never go away. At his regular visit in early July we asked the surgeon how much longer the healing would take. Imagine how this kid felt when the doctor suggested surgery again with a 3 day stay in the hospital to place a wound vac. At this point, I knew I had to get a 2nd opinion.

First to our family doctor. He suggested seeing a surgeon in a nearby town. I was against that and opted for Arkansas Childrens Hospital. That was a wasted trip! I thought we would be refered to a specialist but instead were told it was just something he would have to live with. We then decided to go with the surgeon our doctor recommended to begin with. She has been the answer to our prayers. She took one look, said she could have it fixed in 15 minutes and healed in a matter of weeks!

Surgery took a little while longer because unknown to us and our first dr, there was another cavity that had to be reconstructed. Except for a gauze sponge taped to his back to protect his incision, 4 weeks later my son is healed. That is our pilonidal story in a nutshell. I've left out so much about it, it requires a completely different blog. Any body who's ever had one can surely relate.

Now for the details...my son is 15 and about to start his junior year in high school. He is 6'1" tall and weighs 323.8 lbs. Since he first started gaining weight in 4th grade, we have tried one plan after another. We have had endless blood work checking his metabolic system, fitness clinics that claim he's insulin resistant who offered plans then never follow up, diet and exercise programs that continue to fail. With a BMI of 43 (?) he is at a dangerous weight for such a young man and we are desperate for help. He decided last week that when he went for his check up today, he was going to ask about lapband surgery.

His doctor said he was a candidate for lapband but before she would even consider it, he had to try the HCG. I had heard of hcg but never checked into it, I assumed it was a fad diet....maybe like the phenfen craze from few years ago. After discussing it with "Dr J" and her nurse we were convinced to give it a try. I am 49 years old, 5'8", and I weigh 231.2 lbs. I am choosing to do this with my son.

We were weighed and our blood pressure taken. We will pay our initial fee of $125.00 per person at our next visit on August 30 at which time we will be given a small book to read before we return for a class on the evening of September 13th.

Please subscribe to my blog and I will share this experience with you. I, and my son, have 100% faith in his new doctor. She has been spot on with treatment of his cyst and we have no worries about her steering us toward the HCG. I love my son and I want him to have a long, healthy life. In my next few entries I'll tell you what we know, or at least what we've been told, about HCG so far.....

I have done the HCG diet and as long as he is not taking any hormones or yourself it is fine. I chose the drops. There were NO side effects. If you are located here in Austin that is great there is a website where you can get the drops for half the price but you must be dedicated to the diet and responsible to take them as directed 5 times daily or they will not be effective. Please let me know how it goes, I hope all goes well for you and your family.
