Hey what’s up… If you are anything like me, things don’t always go the way that you expect or anticipate and that has been true for me, especially lately. I have my moments of complaining and fussing at the situation but when it comes down to it reality sets in and there is nothing that I in my own power can do. Right there!!!, at that point of realization is where I would find myself in a helpless stupor sitting in a corner somewhere looking sick and pitiful; just ask my wife…lol
We as Christians often times develop this invisible force field of comfort that we deem impenetrable by the things that we don’t want to come in. You know how we are… if things are seem contrary to what our agenda is then something must be wrong and we “just know that this isn’t God”. We build our lives on systems of merit and achievement as if these things are to make room for us in the eye sight of God. Surely, if I look the Christian part, and have the “nod of approval” from church personalities then certainly God feels the same. So why hasn’t God answered my prayers and for the proactive and assertive personality in some of us we say…What can I do to fix it? “make something happen?”, “Get-r-done” .
This is the beauty of the Gospel of Jesus Christ; we can’t force the hand of God and in fact we can’t do anything well enough on our own to even budge the hand of God. This wasn’t a tough concept for me to understand but it is a challenge for me to apply to my life. For me to be at the place where I am no longer looking for the hand of God for handouts, or the next blessing, or superficial feeling is where we should all strive to be. There is a saying that God put in my heart years ago… He says…”Take care of MY business and I’LL take care of yours.”
I have a growing desire to be a part of something big. Being the next big musician/artist won’t do, being a part of a social organization that challenges my faith so i can acquire life-long connections with people in high places is not for me either. I mean who exactly wants to anger God by placing other gods before Him. And who wants to be found sitting in a corner frustrated that things aren’t going your way when He comes back. I want to be a part of the Kingdom of God.
I have come to realize through the Word that God has a special place for me, just for me. The kingdom of God has provisions for all who believe and confess Jesus. Everything that I need is there, maybe not every little wayward desire that we fabricate but that’s why we are to pray and ask God to give us what we should desire because everything that is done is done for our good and for God’s glory. The kingdom of God is not found in the suit stores, not brought to a greater reality by the pattern of steps we trot in sporadic jerks of uncontrollable frantic. The kingdom of God is not found in the circle of churchgoers who gather in gossip gatherings. The kingdom of God is under no heading of denomination, and the kingdom of God is surely not a place that we pay cover charges to allow our pockets to be ciphered of untold amounts of moneys. The Kingdom of God is right where it always has been, at the foot of the Cross. Great God!!!
I see myself bowing down at the base of the cross and as God hangs there for my sins. After having been afflicted by the stripes that were meant for me, the chastisement and humiliation that was meant for me. But even more than that, it doesn’t stop there, Glory be to God!! Now to stand at the opening of the tomb where they lay my Jesus and hear the angels say “He’s not here, He Is Risen”. My God has conquered death. He has put to shame all those who mocked. Jesus has healed my heart and settled my discontent. Hallelujah,…. He has given me reason to live and purpose for life. Because he lives I can face tomorrow knowing that God is High and Lifted Up on the Throne.
In light of this, my problems don’t even seem big any more…. Not even important!.. Nothing overshadows the Blood of Jesus. No job, relationship, social status, or anything of the like can compare to all God wants to be in our lives. I’m kind of glad things didn’t go my way. I want to be right in the will of God.
