"Home" Again -- Almost

Posted 08-01-2010 at 06:41 AM by LookinForMayberry

We arrived in Bothell's Lake Pleasant yesterday morning at 8:40, because they told us we'd have "No trouble" getting into our site by eight. It wasn't available until 12:30 PM.

I quickly recalled what a disaster it is to try to find available parking for any vehicle in the region -- Towing placards are everywhere and people are SERIOUS. Trying to find a place for a 38' RV -- ugh! Thankfully, it was Saturday, and there is a economic blight on the land. We found an empty commercial building in a nearby industrial park and took up several of their spaces.

Meanwhile, I got reminders at every turn of the traffic issues in the region. How could I have forgotten in only 23 months.

That was a type of shock, but it didn't really hit me until I made a trip to the grocery. We aren't in Kansas, anymore. Another reminder: never go to the grocery store on the weekend, or evenings.

Okay, enough about the traffic, the hordes; they're a fact of life here. I knew that even if I did forget.

What I also forgot was how the people look right through you. No more friendly strangers, just hordes of individuals in their own hemisphere, racing to their next goal. These folks are BUSY, and getting to that next thing is SERIOUS -- even FRANTIC. Stopping to enjoy the present moment here could get you run over. Eeeeck!

This could be a tough Mayberry make-over.

DH is spending the week getting our home ready to move-in next Saturday. The tenants vacated last night. While he is acting as "general contractor" for the cleaners, painters, and etc., my mission is running errands. I'm going to get used to the masses real quick. (Don't worry, no more paragraphs on that topic!)

Today, however, is Sunday. There are two dog parks nearby, and Big' needs a romp with others his own species.

Bothell has a Ananda Sangha Meditation Temple that was not finished when we left. There is a meditation at 9:00 AM and a service at 10:00. That is for me.

Once the important things are taken care of, I will look at this growing To Do List, and (hopefully) I will remember to smile at strangers while in my missions.

Just in case you're somewhere very busy, here's one for you:
