Long day

Last night at 10:07 my adviser send me an email saying that he couldn't indeed meet at 8:00am, so we should postpone until I return. I realized my flight was later than I had originally told him and informed him of that in a reply. At 3:51am he said we could meet at 9:00am. At 6:01am he said we could meet at 8:30... (Does he sleep?!?) When I went to bed I thought that we would either have a meeting at 9 or none at all; I set the alarm for 8:00 to be able to pack and meet with him (or not) and then head straight to the airport. Imagine my surprise when upon checking my email I find out that I should meet him at 8:30! I threw on the first things I could find to wear - benefit of working in a math department, what you find on your floor or in your hammer is deemed acceptable - skipped my crucial cup of coffee and bolted to his office.
Luckily, since I hadn't packed, our meeting was short, sweet and actually very productive. From there I ran home, threw a ton of work related things into a carry-on, piled on some other clothes and took off for the airport. Having a one way ticket after returning from Mexico might seem sketchy, so I allotted extra time for security. Extra time I didn't need. The main security guy took one look at my frazzled, exhausted face and escorted me through the security line as quickly as possible. I got to my gate with time to spare, especially since my flight was delayed. Long story (from one airport to the next and finally 'home home') short - after starting my running around leaving at 8:00am, I arrived in my parents house at 3:45pm.
So far I haven't been required to do much in the way of medical treatments, just dolling out the first dosage of an IV antibacterial and re-wrapping my mother's wound (at 11pm). As for math... I feel a bit like a slacker admitting that I didn't attempt to begin working after traveling today. However, to make up for my guilt of not working today, I plan to get up early tomorrow and dive into the sea of knowledge in a valiant quest for truth - or at least read and learn the paper my adviser gave me today. Hopefully then I'll be on the right track.
