Real Estate is a challenging career...

It's impossible to know how challenging someones's work is unless you do it and though I've only had a few jobs, I have to be honest, real estate is the hardest work I've ever done. I've worked on a farm, shoveled mountains of sawdust and chipped glue from glue tower at a plywood plant, heat-sealed thousands of IV bags a day, collected bad loans including being shot at, and logged hundreds of payments an hour in an accounting position. In the end, nothing has been as hard as real estate.

I share this because I want clients to know what it takes to create a seemless and enjoyable real estate experience. During "work" hours we make appointments, fix problem issues, go to inspections, enter listings, make flyers, brochures, feature cards, shoot virtual tours and write reams of text for all these, enhance Realtor.com listings, enter listings in the MLS and answer questions about a hundred issues that come up constantly (loans problems, inspections problems, etc). Of course all of this is part of anyone's work day, no question about it.

But here's the rub. In the evenings and on weekends you have to meet with clients because this is when they aren't working and have to meet on a schedule that works for them, not you. Meanwhile, if you don't constantly prospect for new business, you're out of business as soon as your buyers close and your listings sell. Finding prospects is in fact the single most difficult part of the job because people are always making you prove that you're good no matter how much experience you have or how long you've been working.

The worst part is when you do all this right, and no one's perfect by the way, you're still going to come across unethical people who use you time, energy and skill and could care less if you ever get paid for them. They'll act like friends and buy a For Sale By Owner. Or they'll make bad decisions against your advice and blame you for the outcome anyway.

In the end, the lose of course, because without a good Realtor they're going to make mistakes. If you've got a bad Realtor, well, that's a shame and I think you have to interview to make sure this doesn't happen. But a great one will make sure you get the best value possible, help you make the best and most informed decisions, and give you a completely seamless transaction. We'll protect you, ally with you to help you with each and every important step, and give you the confidence only someone who specializes can give.

I hope each of you will really think about what a good Realtor can do to help improve your lives (finding the best fit for you and your family), find you a safe and happy home in which to live your lives and raise a family. Find you a HOME! If you're not sure what you Realtor is capable of offering you do some research and treat a good Realtor well. They can become your Realtor for life and offer valueable advise for anything related to real estate, home improvement, maintenance, and so forth.

Employ the help of a good Realtor. We'll make things so much easier than you can ever imagine and will care more about you and your welfare than almost anyone with whom you'll do business.
