Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Pause And Reflection: 100 Blog Posts

Posted 05-01-2010 at 07:32 PM by case44

Wow. Can you believe it's been nearly two years since my very first blog entry?? Where has the time gone?

Here we are at blog post number 100 in this island in paradise we call Case's Column. It's not anything like the posting we do on the forums. This is a whole lot different, and with a whole different perspective. I've spent much of the last two years visiting with you in a whole new venue, and this is something I've always wanted to do, but didn't have the right place. That is, until City-Data provided that opportunity for me. I've discovered that journaling can be quite fun. Some days (and, perhaps, weeks), my writing becomes dormant, but other days, it becomes prolific and more urgent. Depends on what mood I'm in, I guess. Sometimes I struggle wondering what I'm going to write about, but if personal experience allows, then there's that itch or that thing that just comes to me. By the time I've gotten to this, the 100th blog post, that aforementioned new venue is no longer new.

The end result is what you've been reading so far. So many folks have taken the time from their schedules to stop by C-D. Many have traversed over to the blog pages to read the many thoughts of C-D members, which include those of this writer. I count it a privilege to visit with you in this manner. We do have a diverse lot, don't we?? That's a good thing, because you get to see the world through the eyes of those who make it all possible right here at City-Data.com. What an awesome privilege for me to share my personal experiences with all of you out there.

While 100 is not exactly a sexy number in many circles, when it comes to blogs, it's quite an achievement, considering I only write about five to seven blog posts per month. I don't plan to do any celebrating, but rather, I just want to look back and reflect over the things I've written about over these last couple of years. To think that I began with C-D nearly three years ago, and to also be given an opportunity to blog is more than anything I could have ever dreamed about. And who knows what will be written about in the next group of posts? How far will I go? 500? A thousand? It's in the Lord's hands, so we'll see. For now, I plan to keep chugging along.

I want to thank each of you for your support of the blogs, and also for your comments, and the great words you give. It was my intention to have fun with this blog, and have fun, I did. I never have tried to seek or spur controversy, and I will continue to strive to put forth my best work with insightful commentary, humor, and realism, knowing full well that I can't please everybody all the time. If I've made one person's day, then I've done the deed I've needed to for that day, no matter what else happens. I thank you, the reader, for showing an interest. You are the reason why I do this. Maybe if I do become a big-time writer.......

Again, it's been a fun ride, but we're only just beginning. There will be more great stuff to come, and I guarantee it, or you'll get your money back. Wow. 100 posts. Time flies when you have fun typing.

Lots of posts. I always try to check the blogs for your name.

Btw, I am enjoying this cooler than normal spring. I couldn't believe it last Monday when I was out at 6pm and it was around 90, and then two hours later it was 30 degrees cooler.

It's all about life, case. You bring the personal touch to your writings and they are all such a joy to read. I know you try to please as many readers as possible, but you don't have to be concerned about it. What you write about is life in general, and I can see that it's all heartfelt. It's life as seen through your eyes, not those of someone else. Don't change one thing. Keep up the good work here!
