Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

There'll Be A Draft Blowing In On Thursday: NFL Draft Now Goes Prime Time
Posted 04-17-2010 at 05:53 AM by case44
I'll preface with this: NFL commish Roger Goodell is not a desperate man. Really, he isn't. There's just this hankering to do something a little different. All he wants is for more people to have access to the things football fans are interested in the most. Such will be the case on Thursday night, of all things, when the NFL Draft begins its first round of pickin' and grinnin'. ![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Yes, just a few years ago, this was a Saturday morning thing. Not anymore. Goodell just wants more people to be able to see their favorite teams make their picks to fill some roster needs for improvement. And for many, this will be a more convenient time when more folks will have their fannies tucked in recliners all over America. Talk is already brewing in full force on our C-D Sports and Football forums with this very thing in mind, and anticipation, as always, is hotter than a Laredo parking lot.
I'll be interested in what the Cowboys and Texans will be doing during that time. The Cowboys are trying to win a playoff game to get back to the Super Bowl.
The Texans are just trying to win their first-ever playoff game.
Both teams will be strategizing, wheeling, and dealing come Thursday (round 1), Friday (rounds 2 and 3), and Saturday (rounds 4-7). All teams will be getting after it, and you can bet that Mel Kiper, Jr, will be showing even more of why he's ESPN's "draft expert". So, all eyes will be glued to the boob tube come Thursday, when the number one pick will be announced for selection. The one negative that I've read is that folks on the West Coast may not be home from work in time for this, and not all comments have been favorable. We will see if this works.
Don't be surprised if this year's NFL Draft actually gets higher ratings than those of the past.

I can't believe that Flozell Adams is gone!! Do you know if he's retiring or going to another team? So I guess they are going to replace him in the draft.

I don't know for sure, blue. Could be cutting some big salary to make way for someone else.
