Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Today Was All The More Reason To Be In A Good Mood
Posted 03-12-2010 at 06:53 PM by case44
Have you ever had days where you were just in a real good mood and everything turned out just right? Well, today was one of those days (the good version, not the bad one). Aside from the fact that at this very writing, it is Friday, there were just a lot of things that simply made today a great day. And, yes, it is worth sharing, or else, you can skip this and go to the next blog if your mood is less than what mine was.
I mean, not too many eventful things happened, although I had a great visit with my favorite cousin at one of my favorite Tex-Mex places. But even before that, just the little bitty things that all of us take for granted made this day great. Good coffee brewed perfectly. A nice, colorful sunrise was viewed from beyond my patio. My breakfast was perfect. I figured something out on a bill in which I won't have to pay the full amount. The sun was shining. We had comfortable temperatures in Dallas. While out driving, I saw good-looking ladies and other well-to-do people with the rooves down on their convertibles or the windows open in their cars. The wind was blowing. All the ingredients of a wonderful day.
All right, all right. One thing went wrong today, but it was minor and nothing earth-shattering or FoxNews-worthy. I had intended to take a pair of slightly ripped slacks to a tailor this afternoon. The tailor store sign was up at the shopping center, but the store itself was closed. Forever. That's right, as in permanently. Oh, well. I'll just find another tailor tomorrow. No biggie, but the powers that be behind said sign had best own up and start taking the big letters down. Still a very good day for The Case.
And topping off all of that, I spent my time wisely on City-Data, doing the things I like to do in the places people expect me in. It's home for now. And what a great place to be when your mood is just right!

I don't think you'll see too many convertibles with roofs down in Lubbock today--it's snowing/sleeting according to the weather map. It's 62 in Dallas right now, so a few might be down there.

As for Lubbock, well, check back next month. I was driving in Grapevine last week (just a few miles from my apartment) when I visualized the idea and basis for this blog post, because I was having a really joyous day.

Good post, case. I'd hate to see what you're like in a bad mood.
