Engaged moderators help to create a hospitable enviornment on City-Data, one of respect and civility...

I must admit, City-Data does have a different feel to it...
it reminds me of dining out on 5th Avenue at a upscale resutrant...

Why do I make that comparison?
Because City-Data is ran in a more civilized,
up kept manner than most other forms I've read or been a part of.
The moderators here are engaged and active...they keep an eye on 'trolls' and or trouble makers.
When I first joined...I infact, got penalized a few times, because I was fresh from another forum where mud slinging was the norm

...no moderation, nothing...it was like the wild wild west...

With other forums, it's like entering a wild
West Saloon, with bar fights and chairs and glass aflying...(duck)

Forums like that, really show the worst in man...people say the most hurtful, demoralizing things, and after a while destroys your confidence that humans can ever get along....

Then along comes City-Data...it had a different feel to it from the beggining...but many new members are conditioned by the mud slinger forums...where it's hurt and insult before you get hurt and insulted...

Well here on City-Data, it doesn't work that way...you have to present open honest ideas and discusions about whatever...
Sure, there's still disagreement and debating...but it doesn't get to a toxic level, as it does on so many other forums...

And that's do to the moderating...
Again, I was a 'hot child' when I first came on here...until I learned the perimeters...In other words I got spanked a few times by the moderators...
But I learned my lesson and realized how the other forums had conditioned me to behave...and realized it was wrong...so I had to modify my interaction with others...

I'm glad I found this place...not that everyone likes me, cause they don't...
But at least on City-Data, it never really get's personal...it usually stays in the arena of 'ideas'...someone might not like your ideas, but it rarely goes beyond that....

And for that I thank City-Data for creating such an enviornment where intelligent exchange of ideas and thoughts can occur, without the toxic, personal insulting mud slinging that is so previlant on other forums...

Oh no problem at all...I meant it...and we do need it....
I've been to a few other blogs, and the mud slinging can get so out of hand...
Many use forums or message boards, not to learn or find solutions, but rather as platforms to say or suggest cruel things about or to others in cognito...

Some of the other forums or like street battles in Bagdad...gun fire and explosions...run and hide, duck for cover...and then take aim....

But City Data...is more like MASH...the TV show...when it comes to combat...

Newbies come here fresh from the battle field, as I did...and it takes a minute or two to adjust...if your intentions are good, you will adjust...if their not good, you never will...

I'm kinda goofy and curious by nature...that's why I probe and ask so many question...like tootie on different strokes, when she was on rollerblades and would go from room to room trying to get in on the latest buzz....

To some her character was adorable, to others her character was a nuisance...and the same goes for me...
    I am what I am...

Anyways I would have replied much sooner...it's just I didn't notice these comments until minutes ago...

I can still be a brat though...but in a loveable type of way...
    At least I think so...later...
