My Daily Life and Thoughts while in San Diego | List of Best Posts
This blog is where I express myself to the world or at least to those who might stop by to read what I post . Maybe God will use what I post (I am a Christian and this blog will have a most decidedly Christian bent to it) to good effect in the lives of my readers.

I may turn some of my posts into a book. I may cease blogging here altogether. Who knows. But for now..I am content to post away in this, my own little corner of the world.

Rather than reading through my now lengthy list of posts you may wish to read what I consider to be my very best posts or you can just read the posts that deal with a single subject category that might interest you.

Please know that I am open to any input on any topic I write about. If you have something to say about anything you see written here please....feel free to speak up in the form of leaving a comment or sending me a PM (private message).

And if you are in San Diego and wish to meet the one and only Carlos (that's me )...drop me a private message. I always enjoy meeting one of my readers!

Thanks.

Carlos

Merry Christmas!

Posted 12-23-2009 at 12:12 AM by carlos123

Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year through a card I created.

That's really me pretending to be Santa .

I created the image myself.

Thanks Haller. It took me quite a while to figure out how to do that...I used the GIMP program running under Linux (though of course one can also use a program under Microsoft Windows to do the same thing ).

I will be spending Christmas Day by myself this year (I think...).

Sometimes at this time of year I get a little sad (well a lot sad sometimes) given that my immediate family and extended relatives live at distances from me that are just too vast for me to have any realistic hope of being able to visit them.

When I was a little kid we used to have wonderful and very large Christmas parties that were such fun. The food and the merriment at that time of year was great.

    I miss those times.

Yet like with most things in life that we nostalgically look back on the reality is that I would not want to go back to those times and be a little kid again (for example). I like the fact that I have grown and matured and can now make my own way in life without being dependent on my parents.

Likewise while it does make me sad sometimes that I never had children (little one's make Christmas all the more special I think)...I am also glad of that when it comes down to it.

Putting Christmas aside...I never had to contend with diapers and the stress and effort that is necessary to raise children. Especially in this day and age.

The Bible says that children are a blessing and undoubtedly they are in many respects but that is one of the harder verses for me to believe and embrace since they so often seem more like a pain to have.

I do miss the extended family in my life though. I never had that growing up. That's another reason I want to move to the home country...so that I can enjoy renewed contact with aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and others that I have an abundance of and experience some of that Christmas merriment once again.

When I went to the home country a couple of years ago for the first time since I was 7 years old...it was like I was a celebrity. I did not realize how many relatives I truly had LOL.

It helps for me to have something like that to look forward to in the future...God willing.

I do hope Haller that you have loves one's to spend the Holiday's with and that you are able experience a wonderful Christmas.

Thank you for your blessing Carlos.
I wish you have a wonderful Christmas Eve tonight.

Christmas Day is not the most important festival in China.Even for my parents generation, they don't know this festival at all.
    But youngers loves it.

China's Christmas Eve is the New Year's Eve.All the family members should have a royal reunion meals together, and then wait for the coming new year together.
China's Christmas Day is Spring Festival.
It means the past year has been past, and the new year is coming.

I live in Beijing where is far away from my hometown too.
Sometimes I feel a little sad too when I miss my family.
I go home once a year, when Spring Festival is coming. We have a 7-day vacation for the festival.
It is too short for me;(

When you miss your family so much ,you could go home to visit them.Don't be alone Carlos.
