Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.![Stick Out Tongue](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Give A Hug To Someone Today
Posted 11-16-2009 at 11:24 AM by case44
You and I wake up every day of the week and must face life with each moment out there in the real world. Headlights. Taillights. Deadlines. Pressures. Problems. Those are things none of us can escape as long as we have breath.
But I can think of the nicest way to pause from the grind of daily living. Give. We live in a take world, don't we? We spend our lives sharply focused on taking. Take this, take that, take, take, take. It's almost like life itself is about things, but it isn't. Yeah, I know. It's almost time for the Christmas season, but we'll chase that rabbit when the time comes. For this very day, giving knows no season at all and shouldn't have any boundaries. There are people I like and, sadly, people I can't stand. Society is that way, and so it is with you out there. I wish it were not that way, and one day when I spend eternity in Heaven, there won't be any hate or dislike. We'll all be hugging and eating chocolate chip cookies.![Big Grin](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Eureka! There's what we need right now: a hug. That's right. One simple hug. Why? Because everyone needs one now and then. Yes, you do need one. In a world filled with strife, chaos, pressure, and every bleep known to mankind, you can soften all the blows by making someone else's day. Why worry about something to do tomorrow when there's something you can offer right now?
Give a hug. If you can't find someone to hug, well, dangit, just find someone to hug. You'll feel better afterward.![Smile](https://pics3.city-data.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I shook someone's hand today...does that count?

I live in South Carolina and we grew up on HUGS and sometimes even kisses. I love BIG BEAR HUGS! Once someone made this statement to me "why are people so fake around here? Everyone looks me in the eye and says hello. You can't always be in a good mood." My response was "that's the way we were raised and you never know when you might make a new friend." That is how relationships begin!!! Here's a hug and kiss on the cheek to you, Lisa
