    Chase Causes Excitement

    St. Louis, Aug 2, 1903
Detectives McCarthy and Dooley, with pistols in their hands, chased Harry Skropsky of No. 1447 Biddle street, from Broadway to Chestnut street to the alley on Olive, between Broadway and Sixth street yesterday afternoon.

E.J. Gildersleeve, a ticket broker at No. 104 North Broadway, charges Skropsky with petit larceny.
Gildersleeve was selling a ticket to a customer, who laid down $15 on the counter to pay for it. Skropsky, who was standing in the office, grabbed it and ran out the door. Gildersleeve gave chase and shouted for the police.
Detectives McCarthy and Dooley were in the vicinity and heard Gildersleeve's cries.
Drawing their revolvers they joined in the chase. Skropsky ran west on Chestnut street to the alley, and then turning north dashed toward Olive street. The detectives overtook him as he ran out on to Olive.
