A Stress Free Weekend

I remember the long days of summer from when I was a kid, those three months give or take a week being out of school seem to last forever. Now its like I blink twice and summer is almost over. I used to divide summer into halves. Memorial day was the start, and the 4th of July meant it was half over. Usually it meant that baseball for me would be over too.

William headed south on Three-Notch road, and turned into the parking lot of a Baptist church. Sweet Moments General Baptist to be exact. The old building was gone, giving way to a new all metal beige one. William sat with the car running for a few moments to see if anyone was around. There wasnt much activity at 130 in the afternoon on a Tuesday. Off in the distance he could see the green of a John Deere tractor and the large dust cloud coming from behind it.

With a big lump in his throat, William walked back to his car. He started the ignition and knew that he shouldnt but felt the need to drive by where she used to live. New houses lined what used to be a large bean field on the road that led up to her house, and the road had finally been paved. The fence was new, but the property lines still looked the same, as he pulled in front of an old grown up house. It looked as if no one had lived there in many years. The old man made a right on school street. It had been almost 50 years since he had been down the street but it seemed just like yesterday. He drove in front of the High School, the building was different but the same steps and driveway leading to it reminded him of a time that had seemed to pass so slowly but so fast at the same time. He continued on past the high school, thinking the whole time..He could smell the honeysuckle, he could almost see the other guys that had been on his basketball...

I know I usually post funny stuff on here, or an attempt to anyway, but every once in awhile, I just feel the need to vent, and I guess typing it is a new self-help for me? I dont know. Im not for sure but I suffer from a type A personality, maybe not on all things, but for sure when it comes to being on time, I regress, how bout just showing up within 10 minutes of the pre-determined time?
Sometimes I guess Im too much like a kid, I look forward to things, and I usually put 110% into...
