365 Things To Do in Costa Mesa - Tour OCPAC

Posted 07-23-2010 at 11:23 PM by hollyschwartz

When I first moved to Costa Mesa, I was excited to find out that it was nicknamed “City of the Arts.” There are so many great art venues that are centrally located for all of the OC. So today, why not take a tour of Costa Mesa’s Orange County Performing Arts Center? If you can’t go today, don’t worry – they conduct FREE tours every week on Saturdays and Wednesdays at 10:30am (but make sure to call ahead in case of a change – 714-556-2122).
What will you see in the tour? The new Renee...

365 Things To Do In Costa Mesa - See Visual Arts

Posted 07-23-2010 at 11:22 PM by hollyschwartz

Get out today and see some great visual art… After all one of Costa Mesa’s taglines is ‘City of the Arts.’ Be inspired by a great piece of art over by the Westin at South Coast Plaza. Charles O. Perry created The Ram, which can be found between the Park Tower and The Westin Hotel.
Charles O. Perry uses his statues to questions the laws of nature. That’s deep… Obviously he’s a genius! He has practiced architecture and created art all over the world. Some of the other places where his...

365 Things To Do In Costa Mesa - Oil Painting Classes

Posted 07-23-2010 at 11:21 PM by hollyschwartz

Did you know that in the upstairs of Ace Hardware there is a space called Gallery By Biel? Alice Leggett of Leggett Portraits teaches oil painting classes there on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. The classes are open enrollment and pay as you go so if you wish to channel your inner Monet this is a great way to do it! One of the nice things is that students can work on a project of their choosing and receive personalized attention. Feel free to suggest other ideas on the 365 Things To Do In Costa...

365 Things To Do In Costa Mesa - Westside Bar & Grill Comedy Night

Posted 07-23-2010 at 11:20 PM by hollyschwartz

One of my favorite things to do is laugh and one of the best ways to do that is to go to a comedy show. The Westside Bar & Grill in Costa Mesa does a WEEKLY comedy show on Wednesday nights. One of the best things about this comedy show is that there is no cover… And there’s plenty of beer & pizza to be had. On their website they are proud to call themselves “Costa Mesa’s nicest dive bar.” Sorry, since it’s a bar you have to be 21+ to get in.
The comedy club brings Costa...

365 Things To Do In Costa Mesa - Growers Direct

Posted 07-23-2010 at 11:18 PM by hollyschwartz

Growers Direct is one of my favorite ways to stock up on fruits & veggies. Located at 101 E 17th Street, Costa Mesa 92627 this shop offers quality fruits & vegetables at a great value. Typically, you can purchase healthy, fresh produce for a lot less than you would pay at a grocery store. The reviews for the place on Yelp say it all. People have compared it to a farmers market that takes more than just cash, which is a nice perk.
