The President Deserves Respect

Posted 02-04-2009 at 10:59 AM by KarenRice (Wand'ring Through Northeast PA)

President Obama, as President of the United States, deserves respect, I'm bothered to see people disrespecting him (especially professing Christians) just as much as I'm bothered by people disrespecting former President Bush.

George W. Bush received little respect from enemies the entire time he was in office. Yet I didn't hear the other side complain and say "He is our President & he deserves respect." Just jokes, jabs, & disrespect from all sides.

Selling A Home In This Market?

Posted 11-30-2008 at 03:53 PM by KarenRice (Wand'ring Through Northeast PA)

Sellers all over Pike and Wayne County are wondering if "now" is a good time to sell their home...does the market really stink as bad as the news media says it does? Should you wait?

First, let me play Captain Obvious and state that this time during the Holiday Season is probably a less than perfect time to put a home on the market. Sure some people will be out, but most folks...

Is it **All** the Economy's Fault?

Posted 11-29-2008 at 05:08 PM by KarenRice (Wand'ring Through Northeast PA)

I was struck by a line in someone's blog post:

"More retailers and restaurants will be going out of business due to the strain of the economy."

I wonder if the "economy" isn't as much to blame as is the fact that many areas are OVERSATURATED with stores and restaurants.

I've seen several places go out of business that I never even set foot in - because I didn't need to.

I had no reason to go to Smokey Bones when there's...

Black Friday Adventures - Piece of Cake, Amazon Style!

Posted 11-28-2008 at 11:23 PM by KarenRice (Wand'ring Through Northeast PA)

Did you go out on Black Friday at the crack of dawn? Did you survive? Or at least, get anything good?

I got a good deal on twin size sheets for my daughter at Kmart this afternoon (flannel set) for 6.99. That was great. I wasn't that impressed with much else but then again I also knew it was the wrong time of day for the best deals -

I got an email from Paypal telling me if I go to Walmart.com and spend 100 they'd give me $20 back.

That's "Restitution?" GMAB!

Posted 11-26-2008 at 05:49 AM by KarenRice (Wand'ring Through Northeast PA)

I was reading this story on WNEP.COM about Cathy Aydin, who stole more than $460,000 from her employer, a podiatrist in Scranton.

She was sentenced to 15 months in prison (how much will be served?) and ordered to make restitution, by paying $300 per month back to the doctor she stole from.

According to the article, she purchased "stuff" with the doctor's money, including cars, her house, and a condo in Florida. No mention was made in the article about what...
