Going to church, reading the bible, listening to Christian music will not advance your spiritual life. These activities may give you more understanding but until you are ready to lay down your life and take up your cross this leads nowhere.

What I am talking about is the sacrifice of self to advance the cause of Jesus Christ in the world. There is a destiny that God had for each of us that only we can personally discover. We can discover it only by detaching from the world and making ourselves available for the Holy Spirit. By detaching from the world--now you have time--the commodity that most Christians are not willing to give.

Jesus said, "Self-help is not help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, to finding yourself, your true self. (Matthew 16:25)

"God has planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Anyone who lets himself be distracted from the work I plan for him is not fit for the Kingdom of God." (Luke 9:62)

"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work that the Lord Jesus gave me." (Acts 20:24)

"We have been sent to speak for Christ." (2 Corinthians 5:20)

"We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)

Albert Finch Ministry - Daily Devotional - July 31, 2020

Isaiah 26:3 - "You, Lord, give perfect peace to those who keep their purpose firm and put their trust in you."

If your peace is disturbed, there is something wrong. Apply the blood of Jesus, and keep your mind stayed upon Jehovah, where hearts are fully blessed, finding as He promised, perfect peace and rest.

Keep your mind on God, gaining strength in Him day by day. We must keep in the spiritual tide -- God supreme, the altar within the body. Faith is the...

Albert Finch Ministry - Daily Devotional - July 30, 2020

Psalm 62:5 - "My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him."

Our world today is very noisy, busy, and at times stressful. When you feel stressed or frustrated go somewhere that is silent you will find that your soul begins to calm down. Inner peace and quiet are vital for hearing from God or sensing the direction He wants us to take. Outer silence helps promote inner silence.

At a time when Elijah desperately needed to receive direction from...

Meditations On Friends

Posted 07-29-2020 at 04:31 PM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Friends - people you hang out with -- people you feel committed to -- people you would go the extra mile for -- people whose beliefs and opinions you respect.

Job 2:11 - " When Job’s three friends, Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite, heard about all the troubles that had come upon him, they set out from their homes and met together by agreement to go and sympathize with him and comfort him."

Popular Mindset -- That it...

Albert Finch Ministry - Daily Devotional - July 29, 2020

Posted 07-29-2020 at 11:59 AM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

Acts 20:24 - "But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus."

The ministry of the Spirit has been entrusted to us. We must be in the place of edifying the Church. We are the representatives of Jesus. He was eaten up with zeal (John 2:17). This intense zeal changes us by the operation of the Word; we do not rest in the letter, but we allow the blessed Holy Spirit to...

Separating Ourselves Apart

Posted 07-28-2020 at 08:50 PM by Albert Finch (How Do I Advance My Spiritual Life?)

In Joshua's day, before crossing the Jordan River and moving into their inheritance, God said to the people, "Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you" (Joshua 3:5).

This is an exhortation for us today!

DRAW NEAR TO GOD

The word consecrate, in Hebrew, is actually a relational term. "Qadash" means to separate or set yourself apart unto God. God's heart isn't, "Clean up your act so I can restore and...
