I need help finding good schools in Matthews/Mint Hill

Im relocating from the San Fernando Valley (LA) to Matthews (NC) around Margaret Wallace and Idlewild what schools do you recommend??
I have two young boys ages 5 and 7 and want advice about the schools,which ones have high ratings, personal opinions as far as education, teachers, and overall environment.
Specially if you've relocated from the LAUSD!!

Any history of Tornados or any other natural disasters in Charlotte??

Im curious to know before relocating if Charlotte has a history of tornados, super cell's, or other natural disasters?!
