Posted 05-14-2020 at 08:07 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

This is more of a transportation and road issue, sure. I find it baffling that some states have different criteria for exit numbering on their interstate freeways than others.

Yes, I know that individual states have their own thing, but shouldn't the U.S. Department of Transportation have a say about mile markers? This doesn't have to be about bureaucracy, but rather, a set standard for interstates in every state. We make a big deal about interstate standards in...

Manhattan Offices are finished Twitter employees can stay home

Posted 05-13-2020 at 11:41 AM by Sebb
Prices haven't changed a bit. 07 crash bottomed out in 11-12.
That’s a Big Fat non truth. Look at prices of Park Slope townhomes they have been falling from the highs since 2017. People can’t sell houses for more then they paid and many have taken loses on the homes.

Unless a vaccine is developed (and even then, why would people want to go back to commuting, cramped offices, etc when they got used to working from the comfort of their own homes??), this is the new norm and it won't be pretty for NYC. I am now so happy that I never bought any property here...not that I could afford it right now, but even when I had a slight chance at getting a mortgage some time ago, something inside me told me "no, don't do it...you may end up...
This will be the trend now but in 2 to 3 years people will forget and the housing/commercial market is back. I feel a lot of people will sell (maybe at a loss) and then in a couple of years those same properties are taken and are doubled the price.
I don’t think so, the loses will be coming . Also I don’t think people will forget this anytime soon. Before this all happened Manhattan Real estate was a mess . Amazon killed the Commercial retail business...

No way NYC schools open up in the fall Cal U already closed

Posted 05-13-2020 at 07:52 AM by Sebb
That may be the case for some, but for most it's because our society has become structured towards two income households.

My wife and I life well within our means, to the point where people think I'm nuts for rarely buying clothes, accessories, small luxuries etc. Still, we could only barely get by nowadays on my salary alone and I make a pretty damned good living.

This is just the nature of NYC. I'd much prefer her to be home taking care...
