I am thinking of living next to the beach after college. What is a good location to live in California for 22yr olds'?

I was thinking of a location between Los Angeles and San Francisco. I can't decided what location to live in and since I like both the Nor Cal and So Cal area I decided to stay in between. Please let me know what its like to live in those beaches, share your experience and be very descriptive or at least try to be. Thank you so much for you time.
