Hi,

I'm taking US-35 E from columbus to Charleston. Should get to Charleston around 1:30 am as u said. Then, should be leaving around 2:30 pm Charleston to get to Raleigh (at around 7:30ish I'm thinking). Weather looks mostly sunny on Friday!

When you said the drive will be fine after you hit...

Does this one look good to you or do you have a better option?

This looks pretty simple (95 miles on US-35 E)

So, google maps is offering 3 routes, and I am going with the 1st option I guess:

Here is the route:

Take exit 52 to merge onto US-23 S/S High St toward Circleville
Continue to follow US-23 S

Keep left to continue on US-35 E/US-50 E, follow signs for Jackson/Athens...

You won't be in the mountains till after Charleston. Until you hit the Ohio River (Marietta/Parkersburg) you'll be in boring Ohio flatlander country. South of Parkersburg on in to Charleston, the terrain is rolling hills, but no mountains.

To me, the most dangerous part of your trip is from the WV line south to Mt Airy NC, especially the stretch of I-77 around the VA-NC state line.
Thank you, thank...

You could easily stay anywhere in between Huntington and Charleston as the roads are quite straight there as well.

We are going to try to leave by 5pm from Columbus and make it to beckley WV by 9pm....
