Unfortunately, the reverse is also true; if you're trying to get body and curl, it's much more difficult. A blowout and style (depending on how much body you're going for) only lasts a few hours, and flattens right back out. There's a reason you don't see big hair very often here, and it ain't just cultural!

If you don't like twisty, narrow mountain roads scratch the drive up Pikes off your list. There are plenty of spots where there is no shoulder and no guardrails.

You can run into some pretty heavy duty rain/hail storms as well as tornadoes along the route. The further north you are, the less likely you are to run into a big tornado.
