Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Number 9 Turns Out To Be Very Stubborn

Posted 04-20-2021 at 08:42 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

When it's time for me to go to the apartment complex workout room, I usually trudge on over until I get to the door. Like other rooms in the main leasing office building, there are security locks with combos where you must punch in some buttons which set off the sensors.

You know the drill.

So, on came tonight. All I needed was to use the stationary bike. As I approached the entry door to the workout room, it came time to punch in four buttons with...

Houston's KTRK-TV Gets People Far Away Up Close

Posted 04-19-2021 at 07:20 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Say what you will about YouTube, what with all the recent bad publicity about unnecessary censorship. You can actually still see some things on that same service that actually matter, and the powers that be won't have to censor a thing.

I love sunrises. I love sunsets. And, lately, I love city camera views of places way outside my apartment patio. Thanks to YouTube and Houston's KTRK-TV (Channel 13, ABC), the station offers city camera views from two Houston...

The Democrat Party Is Definitely The Party Of ISIS

Posted 04-19-2021 at 12:58 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 04-19-2021 at 05:53 PM by case44

Once upon a time, and it wasn't that long ago, that President Donald J. Trump declared victory over a terrorist cell group called ISIS. Our military should be lauded for attacking the leader of that horrible caliphate to lessen its impact on the world.

Well, now that Joe Biden is our so-called 46th president of these great United States, thanks to a rigged and stolen election, he's issued so many executive orders that we're all woozy by now just trying to keep up. ...

Taco Bueno Returning To Lubbock? All Signs Point To It

Posted 04-17-2021 at 10:06 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Hard to believe that a taco franchise which started in Abilene and had become very successful there and most other places they've planted in would actually pull completely out of a city. But such is exactly what's happened in Lubbock as Taco Bueno once had a showing there, but would later succumb to its competition.

Yes, Taco Villa rules the roost locally in the Hub City, but that doesn't mean that competition isn't welcome there. It's a matter of how many customers actually...

Red River Is Nothing More Than A Mud Pit

Posted 04-15-2021 at 06:05 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In the parlance of road trips, there are beautiful swans and there are eyesores. On my recent near-epic trip to Oklahoma, I couldn't help but wince at the sight of the Red River.

That rascal is never filled with water.

All I keep seeing are little bitty puddles of water amidst a big trail of mud. It might as well be called The Red Mud Pile. Never in the history of ever have I seen the Red River completely filled up. At least, I don't...
