Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Before We Celebrate Mothers, We Can Celebrate Windmills

Posted 05-08-2021 at 08:58 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

This might make many Texans rejoice, but today is National Windmill Day. I've taken this from the trusty Calendar of Strange Holidays, and, well, there it was.

Even though it's actually a bigger day in The Netherlands than it is in Texas, fellow statesmen can still celebrate a real Texas tradition. Windmills? Of course! Every highway I drive on in my state has a windmill, usually on a ranch or someone's farm. You could say it's a staple of country living....

The Only Way The Left Wins Elections Anymore Is By Cheating

Posted 05-07-2021 at 07:33 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

You know that they stole it. They did, folks.

And even stolen elections have their own set of consequences. We are watching corruption re-entering the D.C. cluster as never before. America will never be on the mend unless it has enough people willing to fight back.

States are just now putting together new laws to protect themselves and preserve election integrity. The left calls it voter suppression, but folks, they're crying because they just...

Some Things Are Better Served On My Own

As a C-D member, I've seen all kinds of things happen on this forum through the years. You and I have seen the good, the great, the brilliant, the so-so, the bad, the ugly, the redundant, the farcical, and the nonsensical.

Yes, such things do happen on City-Data , where it's great to be alive.

Some posters get it and others don't. And when it comes to starting new threads, you have to have something to keep it going, where there will...

Bean Soup And Cake Batter: Part Of A Complete Breakfast?

Posted 04-25-2021 at 07:55 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Chances are, if you happened to have been drinking something while reading the title of this latest computer chickenscratch, then many of you might have spewed out your beverage. Just allow me to explain the following to you.

I often eat breakfast out on my days off. And there's a small local chain closeby that has breakfast and lunch available, and I like to stop in. The OldWest Cafe is the name of the place, and it's mighty fine. Lots of things they have on...

Lubbock Coming Up To The Times With New Water Towers

Posted 04-21-2021 at 06:42 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Could it be? It is. Lubbock is still stuck in the 1970s with the water tower inventory it currently has. You would think that, if the city had done some more aggressive growing in the '70s and '80s, then maybe, we would have seen what the city is fixin' to build about thirty years ago, at least in part.

But, alas, Lubbock is just now getting to this.

Look, it's better late than never at all. Lubbock is finally replacing their three...
