Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Foodie Findings: Servers Can Be Pretty Funny Sometimes

Posted 02-10-2022 at 06:28 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Dining at restaurants can be a pleasant thing. Or it could be an adventure. Depending on where you go, what time it is, and how much luck you may or may not have, it would either come out with an excellent, decent, mediocre, or poor outcome.

Well, tonight at Abuelo's in The Colony, Texas, went just fine. They had a lady training a young man how to take orders and follow up with customers just like a good waiter/waitress is supposed to do. We got the orders put...

Common Sense Response To Hate In America

The following came from a quote taken from our P/OC forums. The subject is something which many Americans have had to be confronted with in recent months. It is also part of the Democrats' divisive and hate-filled agenda with the expressed purpose of sabotaging our quality of life here in America.

Here's the excerpt and thread starter.

What To Do About Expiration Dates That Don't Show Up On Food Items

Posted 02-07-2022 at 11:52 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Every trip to the grocery store provides something special for Case. Other occasions, however, I might get a slight adventure.

First, the good news from over the weekend, Blue Bell chocolate chip ice cream is back on the shelves! Case got himself a gallon, and there was much rejoicing. Not sure why Blue Bell wasn't making the product for some time, and I haven't heard of any problems at the main plant.

Now, on to my blog subject. ...

What Would TXDOT Do If I-27 Actually Gets Its Corridor Tagged?

Alright, fellow roadies, we've had one shoe drop. It's time now to see the other. Enough talk had been done. Time for action.

Back in the fall, Interstate 14 became official in Congress. It looked for a while like Forts-To-Ports would be kicked to the curb, if not largely ignored. So now, we wait and see if Interstate 27 can have a similar fate, at least, south of Lubbock and down to a point 18 miles north of Laredo. The Texas Department of Transportation...

Scattershooting Again / Southwest May Finally Use DFW For Operations

Posted 02-03-2022 at 07:55 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

While I end up sitting in my abode unable to head in to work because it's sleeting and snowing in North Texas as I write this, here comes another edition of Scattershooting. Oh, it may be just over six weeks until the spring solstice, but it's looking like Punxsutawney Phil nailed his annual prediction this time around. So, wherever you are, just cozy up to this new chickenscratch and don't accidentally chuck your computer into the fireplace with the blanket and the bath water. ...
