Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

A Texas Legend Reminds This Writer Of Nostalgic Grub

Posted 09-22-2022 at 06:53 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Every time I go to Whataburger, I am reminded of how things were before I even tried this great Texas fast food mecca. There was a time when, even in a place like Grand Prairie, Texas, a hamburger so good could only come from Big Top Burger.

I just gave it away, sports fans, but that's what it was.

Once upon a yesterday, this writer actually got to enjoy a cheeseburger and fries not much different from what I'd eventually get elsewhere. Big Top...

The Doctor Today Keeps The Apple Away

Posted 09-19-2022 at 06:32 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Your writer had to briefly pause from his life to make a routine visit to his personal physician. It's just routine, y'all. I'm fine.

What I glean from those visits is the hilarity of the doctor when he tells me certain things. And, of course, to his credit, he's a smart man and he has a keen sense of humor. The issue is my diet. He's trying to get me to downplay the nutritional importance of fruit. Why? Because he calls fruit a dessert. No joke. ...

Anticipating A Huge Grand Opening In Frisco

Posted 09-18-2022 at 08:02 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As I write this post, that date is now three days away and counting. And if you're in Frisco, Texas, then you have to be chomping at the bit. Better still, if you live in or near Frisco, and have had some kind of residency in other parts of Texas where an H-E-B grocery store just happened to be located, then you'd be salivating big enough to fill the Guadalupe River.

Yes, sports fans, H-E-B is opening in Frisco this coming Wednesday. As a matter of fact,...

From The "I Didn't Previously Know This" Department....

Sometimes, when you drive around a city, you just never know what you're going to run into. Well, I just happened to be strolling along Westheimer Road near Houston's Galleria District, and, lo and behold, your writer made an interesting discovery.

And because this website is City-Data.com, it's another opportunity to inform the masses.

Katz's Deli has always been an institution in New York City. It has also been an institution in Houston for...

Which Will Happen First In San Angelo: I-27 Or I-14?

Posted 09-05-2022 at 04:00 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Okay, so this is not the chicken or the egg here....

As I've promised I'd bring you, there's a city in Texas which, at the moment, is not served by an interstate highway in its immediate area. That problem has since been remedied, not once, but twice, by Congress and the Senate this past winter. So, right now, San Angelo, Texas, is waiting for not just one interstate to show up in that fair burg, but two! Your writer already knows how the two roads...
