Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Just A Few Random Thoughts While Waiting For The Weekend

Posted 10-27-2022 at 08:14 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Oh, sure, it's football season for many. As far as this writer is concerned, it's still baseball season.

Actually, there will be many baseball fans, some far and wide, and others in Houston and Philadelphia, who will be taking part in the one of the biggest events of the year, and that's the World Series. Looking forward to what I hope will be a better Fall Classic for the Astros than the last two they've played in. Winning Game 1 is a must for Houston....

The Things Apartment Folk Will Do To Prevent The Inevitable

Posted 10-25-2022 at 07:30 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Maybe you have someone like what I'm about to describe in your apartment complex. Provided, of course, you live in one instead of a house.

The powers that be at your writer's complex are trying to finish up a striping project in the parking lot. Now, that can't be too much to ask, is it? Well, as it turns out, one resident still can't move his car out of the same space he'd been parking in since..............well, I can't remember the last time he or she had...

Houston's Other Sports Teams Need To Start Capitalizing On The Astros' Success

Posted 10-17-2022 at 02:48 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

If you've been watching the Major League Baseball playoffs, my goodness, you have seen some great baseball played in the last week. The divisional series are almost entirely wrapped up as we wait for one more game to determine the American League Championship Series....................so that team can play my Houston Astros.

And one of our colleagues on City-Data is as ready for a World Series championship as this writer is.

Extra Innings In Seattle: Astros And M's In The Longest Scoreless Marathon

Posted 10-15-2022 at 07:45 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I think that, by the time I wake up out of bed tomorrow morning, the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners will still be playing Game 3.

Saturday night, it sure seemed that way. Good gravy, y'all, it still does! As I am writing this post, Game 3 of the American League Divisional Series at Seattle's T-Mobile Park between the Astros and Mariners is going into the bottom of the 16th inning. That's right, sports fans, 16th! No score. Zero. As of...
