Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

I'll share a quick Thought For The Day, and just because I might not know better.

"A pessimist is a person who has had to listen to too many optimists."

Sage advice can't possibly be bad for you.

Relax, McRib Fans --- It's Not Really Farewell

Posted 11-18-2022 at 05:31 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I knew it.

It's not really what many have been led to believe despite the hype suggesting that it may well be.

Said hype is referring to McDonald's with their McRib ad campaign. They call it the McRib Farewell Tour. And, yes, I was at Mickey D's earlier this evening to get an order to go. Two McRibs (Hey, I was hungry, y'all) sided with a large French fries as only the Golden Arches can. We're being led to believe that this is it, this...

I-69 Update: Brownsville Spur Gets Additional Signage

Posted 11-16-2022 at 08:50 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Leave it to Google Street View to finally give users an eyeful on new roads and new signs. Interstate 169 is taking further shape in the Brownsville, Texas, area as a spur of I-69E.

Google is now showing more significant completion of feeder roads and mainlanes, and that also includes shots of the new shield signs on the side street approaches. The Texas I-69 Alliance team just had a formal unveiling ceremony for 169 and also for the new segment of 69E north of Raymondville,...

Finding The Right Shirt For The Big Man Is Like Finding A Needle In A Haystack

This buzz-haired Texas critter had one more vacation day to take, and so, he mixed it into a three-day weekend. It was time again to hit the road, this time to Southeast Texas. Besides great Houston food at area restaurants, your writer had to make his quest to get one, possibly two, Astros World Series champion shirts.

Here's the catch, however: The T-shirts must be a size 3XT.

In looking at area sporting goods stores and the Astros Team...

Case's Answer To The Proper Chili Cheeseburger

Posted 11-12-2022 at 05:26 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's high time that I settle something, and I'll just do it right here. First, this question: What constitutes the most proper..........

..........way to do a chili cheeseburger?

I'll tell you. A chili cheeseburger will employ two buns (heel and crown), cheddar or American cheese, beef patty (flat-grilled or charbroiled, and I prefer the latter), chili, and (optional) onions, either chopped raw, sliced raw, or sauteed.

That's...
