Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Case's Music Thoughts: The Definitive Version Of Elvis' See See Rider

Posted 12-03-2022 at 05:51 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

There's nothing better than classic icons who bring their iconic classics. It was almost fifty years ago that Elvis Presley made one of the most legendary concert appearances ever, and it was certainly one for the ages.

I can't help but watch and listen over and over again to one of the greatest endings to a live song ever recorded. I mean, in the history of ever. Elvis Presley's Aloha from Hawaii concert in 1973 led off with the song which The King himself made famous,...

Case's Thought For The Day (Well, Perhaps, THIS Particular Day)

Posted 11-27-2022 at 07:03 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Let me give you my thought for the day.

Just don't take a swig of your favorite beverage yet.

It is this: Be sure to leave Santa some chocolate chip cookies. A better presence might make for better presents.

And in this lousy economy, anything is a pick-me-up.

Lubbock Postcards: Road Bond Passage And Taco Bueno's Demise (Again)

Posted 11-25-2022 at 07:14 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In the Llano Estacado, we've recently had the good news and the bad news. So which do you want first?

Well, let me get the good news first for Lubbock, and it really is good news. Citizens there actually passed a road bond proposal in this, the 2022 election. Oh, yes, they did. This is the first time since 2009 since this city experienced such an event. Last year, we can forget (when a similar street bond was rejected by citizens), but Lubbock managed to...

Your Writer Made Texas/Kansas Predictions At Work --- With Startling Results

Posted 11-24-2022 at 01:52 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

While at work last Saturday (as of this writing), I had taken a look at the Big 12 college football schedule for the day, as well as my Texas Longhorns game against the Kansas Jayhawks. Now, no bets were placed, and all was in clean fun. I told a co-worker (who happened to graduate from UT) my predictions for Saturday's contests.

Basically, I said to him that Texas was going to win over Kansas, 45-14.

This is the portion of the blog post where you just...

America Not Nearly As Prosperous Now Under Biden*

Posted 11-24-2022 at 01:31 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

If you want to wax nostalgic, then just look back three years. That was a time when America had prosperity at a level unparalleled in history, and many folks were in the workforce at levels never before seen. The economy was thriving, and businesses were bringing in new workers at a frenetic pace.

Ah, the good times under President Donald J. Trump. I still miss that.

That's the thing, folks. We could have still had this today, but now, it's all...
