Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Scattershooting Again / Why Just One Day For A Museum?

Posted 02-10-2010 at 06:45 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Here I go again with this bit called Scattershooting at this beacon of light known as Case's Column. Let me light up your life right now with views, news, tips, and anything else I pull out of my imaginary magician's hat.

********

One of these days, I would like to trek back to Wichita Falls, Texas, because (1) I need an excuse to get back to Marty's Pioneer for their breakfast scramble and (2) I have been meaning to visit the Wichita Falls Railroad...

Groundhog Day: Apparently, The Shadow Still Knows

Posted 02-02-2010 at 06:39 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Anxious for spring to emerge, this writer will have to hold it in a little longer. And it can be an agonizingly long wait while we get through February. Once again, the world looks on Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania for a certain hibernating creature to make his annual forecast from his abode there. It seems like it's the same forecast every year: Six more weeks of winter.

Punxsutawney Phil is a cute little creature, but why must he make his residence underneath cold,...

How Far From Somewhere Can You Be? Really?

Posted 01-30-2010 at 03:58 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

From time to time, I make time to travel my home state of Texas because there is so much to see. On many trips, I would venture out to all the roads: the interstates, the U.S. highways, the state roads, the Farm-To-Market roads. It's a pretty safe bet, if it's a long trip, that I may hit one of every category.

Just as women pay so much attention to detail in regards to how people wear their clothes, I pay a lot of attention to detail over one specific...

It's Amazing How Life Changes So Quickly

Posted 01-15-2010 at 02:14 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Every waking moment of every single day in life has some kind of action going on. The usual routine involves going to work and having your days off, not to mention all of the other things we do with our lives. Sometimes, you get a few curves thrown your way and then.......

That's where I am now. I've had a swelling in my thyroid for a few months now and am doing something about it. The CT scans were done and I received a report with lots and lots of 16-syllable words...

One Thing I Resolve Never To Do

Posted 01-12-2010 at 11:41 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

We've appeared to have gotten Baby New Year off to a great start, so we'll just feed him his bottle. While that's going on, I have this thought. It's 2010, and back on that magical January 1, many folks all over the world made either one or several resolutions that they've chosen to change or straighten out their lives.

How much do you want to bet they've already broken one? It's what day now, the 12th? It's practically comical how many people make...
