Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

One More Thing About Forgetting

Posted 03-29-2011 at 07:02 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As I spend time preparing for my next vacation, ever fast approaching, I reminisce about previous trips where I thought I had everything packed, only to find one thing got left behind the very moment I arrive at the hotel. Can you say "OOPS!"? On the condition it's something important, yes I can.

Everybody can relate to this because I know this has happened to many of you out there, as well. You leave something at home that you need to have on your...

Green Is Not Always About Spring

Posted 03-17-2011 at 05:21 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

There are three things you can certainly always count on when you get to the middle of March every year. Grass gets greener, trees get greener, and March 17 gets greener, too. It's St Patrick's Day, everybody! Look, even the following emoticon is green.

Besides March Madness and the first day of spring, this is but another third-month ritual. Even though I'm not Irish, I still wore green today in honor of this annual March tradition. The real reason...

A Blast From The Past: Just Thought Of Someone

Posted 03-12-2011 at 08:40 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Yesterday just happened to be March 11, and that's a day I sometimes still think about with decent enough reason. It's the birthday of a guy who was my best friend in second and third grades in elementary school. He's only the first of a few "best friends" that I've ever had. Best friends in concept is practically a foreign idea to me because they all seem to just move away and not stay around.

Friday was his birthday, assuming, of course, that he is still...

Aw, Shoot! I Can't Contain Myself

Posted 03-07-2011 at 03:37 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The euphoria lingers on in the Case abode as excitement abounds over an experiment gone good. One trip to Walgreen's with my cousin, and voila! I've learned how to get digital pics developed, and it was fun learning how to do it.

Yes, I've developed pics there before, but not digital photos. I'm looking forward to going back in to get some more done in the coming weeks (as soon as my budget gets back to a reasonable level). But I can't help it. What...

As The Ceiling Fan Turns

Posted 02-27-2011 at 06:21 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I guess if, in one blog, I write about the earth turning, then I should just write about another thing turning, right? In any event, I've still made you look.

The Case is just in one of those strange moods, I guess. Typing, fidgeting, and then more typing. My day was just another routine Sunday, except for me spending a little more time in the kitchen than usual. After an exciting meal of three sloppy Joes and a fourth one for dessert, I washed...
