Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

And You Thought Poor Richard's Was Just An Almanac...

Posted 06-15-2012 at 07:32 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

.....that is well-known, but it also happens to be a restaurant in Plano, Texas. Funny how I go out to my favorite breakfast place in nearby Grapevine, TX, and see a patron wearing a Poor Richard's T-shirt. That's when I started having these thoughts.

While this post is not going to be a food review, it's an idea that I need to get back out there. That is, if I've been out there. You see, I'm trying to remember if I've ever eaten there. They've got a great...

Just A Few Random Thoughts If You Don't Mind

Posted 06-12-2012 at 07:55 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Don't you just hate it when you can't come up with a good subject? I'm in a writing drought here, sports fans. Sure, I've had lulls before, but I think I actually have it pretty bad now.

Oh, well. While I'm fumbling about and trying to come up with a subject to be discussed here, I will tell you that I've got another road trip coming up. Yep, it's vacation time once again for the Casester, with his belongings to be gathered and heading up to Tulsa...

85: Texas' Next Wild Ride?

I mentioned in a previous Scattershooting something having to do with raising Texas speed limits, and now the folks running the state's highway department are at it again. As if the recent repostings and hikes in West Texas weren't enough, now we may face a situation even more alarming.

Here's the deal: State Highway 130 is currently under construction between the Loop 45 interchange southeast of Austin and the interchange with Interstate 10 just east of Seguin. The word...

The 30-Dollar Steak Dinner - And I Only Paid Nine Bucks

Posted 06-05-2012 at 07:20 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I could not resist. I just couldn't. The urge was beckoning. Time to get me a steak at one of my favorite places to eat in the state of Texas: Saltgrass. Little did I know that, by the end of the experience, another blog idea would hit me like a boxer's punch.

Your favorite blogger didn't want some puny little cut, but the biggest ribeye they had to offer. Bone-in, too. Ordinarily a 30-dollar meal with salad, baked potato, Shiner Bock bread, ...

The Misadventures Of A Courier Dispatcher

Posted 06-04-2012 at 07:52 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's pretty incredible that each work day brings a sense of not knowing what's going to happen next, good or bad. Such is the case in life, anyway, but you never know what surprises await when laboring for eight to ten hours a day. Stuff of life happens. That's right. Especially in my place of business and busyness.

When I'm not at home producing computer chickenscratch for all the world to see, I'm working at another computer at my office. I work as a courier...
