Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Another Year Older, But Please Hold The Year's Supply Of Just For Men

Posted 07-18-2012 at 04:19 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

This is a time of year where I eat more chocolate than most factories would produce. At least, if you take inventory in the last five days. Cookies and cakes coming at me like gangbusters, dinners with relatives, gift cards, to name a few, and you might not believe this, but the folks at work gave me not one, but two birthday cards. Am I that special??

Maybe I need to turn 46 more often. It's just not as sexy as 45, numberwise. I do thank all...

So Can We Play The Red Light Waiting Game?

Posted 07-17-2012 at 03:50 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

When it comes to getting through a traffic light, you often have to wonder what goes through the minds of planners and city workers. Too many questions go through my mind every time I'm at a red light and I wait..........and wait............and wait.............and wait.......................... for that dadgummed thing to turn green.

In Lewisville, Texas, I don't have that big of a gripe at many intersections because signal timing is sufficient enough most hours...

I-69 Texas Update: New Plans For East Texas

Posted 07-10-2012 at 07:20 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 07-11-2012 at 04:44 PM by case44

A few moons back yonder, you may recall seeing a blog post I cooked up about a national interstate highway that is seeing new real estate as it extends southward beyond its former southern terminus in Indianapolis. And that terminus happens to be ancient history, as a few new things have since happened.

Interstate 69, as I've shared here, now has six miles of roadway in South Texas, with more to come. Indianapolis is now in the rear-view mirror, as I-69 now covers...

Case's Food Reviews: Installment Seven

Posted 07-08-2012 at 06:02 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 07-11-2012 at 04:46 PM by case44

I've promised you that I'd get back to you with a food review, and a food review is what I'm going to give you this time. Welcome back to Case's Column for yet another grip on the grub of my life, from my keyboard to your eyes. My recent Tulsa road trip presented some opportunities to visit new places I've never before stopped at, plus some old places I've been previously. Ratings for these eateries are, as always, on a scale of 1 to 5 stars (1 = Poor, 5 = Superior). ...

Bayou City Burger Bonanza Now Spreads Into North Texas

Posted 07-07-2012 at 09:12 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Texans love their hamburgers, and there's simply no getting around it. That's what we really like. Just when you thought certain places are tied only to one particular city, well, you'd best fasten your selt belts for a startling new revelation.

We've all seen in recent years how Dallas-based Burger House has branched out with one non-Dallas/Fort Worth area location: Lubbock. We've also seen how a California chain, In-N-Out, made its move into Texas with the...
