Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

MLB May Be Expanding, But Is Now The Time?

Posted 05-02-2023 at 06:58 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Major League Baseball has been fueling talks that they are looking at expanding their repertoire to thirty-two teams. That's right, sixteen in each league. Thirty years ago, I would have been for the idea of having such for the sake of balance.

But, amidst all the discussions amongst the powers that be, is this the right time to expand?

Too many factors in the negative play into this. Our country is very unstable right now, and Canada isn't any...

Spring Storms Previously Predicted For North Texas Never Materialized

Posted 04-28-2023 at 06:16 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Mother Nature's been playing favorites again.

Oh, it's okay. Let the big stuff stay down in Central Texas and just let the quieter stuff happen right near my home. It won't bother me in the least. Besides, who wants the grapefruit-sized hail that Waco got yesterday? Not in my backyard, thank you. I'll take the soft rain. Matter of fact, the severe thunderstorm watch has just been cancelled for the county in which I live, and that's just great news. Then...

The Surprise That Even Your Writer Was Not Expecting

Posted 04-27-2023 at 07:26 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

We all like surprises. You do, too. Anyone who's anyone would think that a surprise is often a good thing, especially when same might not be expecting anything.

Clarity is kind. Usually.

The thing that happened at Parcel Pending at my humble apartment complex pretty much told the tale on this Thursday. I was getting e-mails from Parcel Pending telling me that I had a package from FedEx. Now, I wasn't really expecting anything from anyone, and...

Looks Like Someone Had --- Shall I Say, Overdone It....

Posted 04-26-2023 at 08:37 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

What I witnessed shortly after sitting down to an afternoon dinner at a nearby Mexican restaurant does happen. I just would not have expected it to happen when it did.

Your writer was about to have a Mexican food feast at La Hacienda Ranch when two ladies about fifty feet away at a corner table were finishing up their consumption experience. I don't know what they ate, but I found out from the wait staff what they had to drink! As I saw something strange when one of the...

Case's Nostalgia Moment: Those Old Clorets Commercials

Posted 04-24-2023 at 08:02 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Some of you television fans out there certainly remember old commercials from the days of yore. And anytime you go on YouTube, my stars, there are myriads and cornucopias of TV fare that you just might run into anything.

Remember Mike Connors from the CBS-TV series, "Mannix"? Sure, many of you do. I liked him in those Clorets commercials. You can catch a few of those on YouTube today if you look closely. I mean, he knew how to sell a product, and...
