Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Still Around: The Oldest Living Singers Out There

Posted 06-13-2024 at 05:06 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

You won't believe this, but I found a compilation of singers who are still alive. Really.

There are several offerings by folks on YouTube, but I just believe that this collection in the vid below is mostly correct. It was released a few months back, although a few of the ages have advanced one year in a short time. Nonetheless, feast your eyes below.

Some of them, I'm surprised (but...

What I Learned Today: A Chaparral Is A Road Runner

Posted 06-09-2024 at 07:56 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Following was something I should have learned long ago but never paid it any thought. I just found out on Google search engine that a chaparral and a road runner are the exact same thing.

There really isn't any difference in the two entities. A chaparral is a road runner. It's also New Mexico's state bird; yet, in Texas, we have a replica of a road runner located in Fort Stockton on one of its city streets near its downtown core. He's none other than...

What If America Didn't Make It Through This Year?

Posted 06-09-2024 at 01:56 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Back a few months ago, I made my baseball predictions for the Major League season currently in progress. Towards the end of the post, I made a crack about praying that we just get through it.

The reason for that is, what if?

What if........the United States didn't make it through this calendar year because of some kind of major crisis induced, of course, by the modern-day Democrat Party and our enemy countries? What if we had a major terrorist attack...

The Austin Radio Network Reaches The End Of An Era

Posted 06-05-2024 at 05:37 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The change in the radio landscape of Austin, Texas, was very swift on June 1. KOKE-FM (99.3 and 98.5) and its associated entities have been sold to Norsan Media, and the legend that had been KOKE-FM, known as "Austin Texas Country", was put to rest. They won't be on the radio anymore.

Austin radio, like it or not, will never be the same again. KOKE is offering an exclusive streamline to keep fans holding up as things change. Instead of progressive...

A Replacement Buc-ee's? Yep, In The Town Where It All Began

Posted 06-04-2024 at 07:04 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

You've read that title right.

I cannot imagine going to a Buc-ee's anywhere in Texas and see barricades up, saying it's closed. But, that's what Texans are going to see when the chain is actually going to build a bigger Buc-ee's in Luling, Texas, to replace the old store.

Let me say that again: Buc-ee's is building a replacement store! It's going to replace the old original. Beaver Fever has gone on steroids all of a sudden. Now, ...
