Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

America Under Assault: Obama's Going In For The Kill In The Suburbs

We may have a new president in these United States this coming January, but we still can't rest on our laurels. The consolation will only happen if a contrast to the current administration were to take place. Yes, we've got Donald Trump leading the vote count for the conservatives, and we've heard everything about it. Even though he might not be the better of the conservative candidates, he's getting the most votes, and so, he'll have my support. What he must do now is provide...

An Allergy Attack Is Always Something To Sneeze At

Sometimes, you wonder if it will go away. Never mind that April showers bring May flowers and Mayflowers bring Pilgrims. In my part of the world, we did not really have a winter, and now, I think people in my area --- including this writer --- are dearly paying for it.

I got sick last week from sneezing and an itchy throat. Today, I'm still dealing with some sniffles and the foliage that's hanging around my nose like bees in a honeycomb. But that's May for...

Respite Time: I'll Hit The Road -- But For Just One Day

Posted 05-05-2016 at 07:57 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

My next vacation (which will be a staycation this time around) is still under a month away, but I won't let it stop me from taking a brief road trip.

Just for tomorrow, I'll just venture off to Tyler, Texas, for a drive. Come daybreak, I'm burning rubber (quietly, of course) on my way to Buc-ee's in Terrell for fuel, and then off to East Texas for a change of scene and two good places to eat. I will hit Sweet Sue's breakfast buffet, followed by lunch a few...

Big Mac Attack? How About A Bigger One For Size?

I'm sure you've heard all the rumors about McDonald's in their quest for innovation and, at the same time, trying to win back what had been said to be lost customers. Honestly, I don't think they've lost that many, as my local Mickey D's still has streams of customers every time I pass by. Right now, they've got a heck of a promotion going on in two cities for a test. Dallas, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio, are the two markets for this test.

I decided to go in a few...

Scattershooting / The Loss Of A Texas Sportswriter

Posted 04-29-2016 at 07:20 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Here I go again with more Scattershooting right here on City-Data, where it's great to be alive. And here you go again with reading this blog page and becoming more informed each day, you'd swear you must have been at a Holiday Inn Express. Let's get the proceedings underway.

********

The inspiration (in part) for my Case's Column blog page has just passed away. He was a longtime Texas sportswriter with his own backwoods personality and dry wit....
