Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Texas Wildfires Are Just Out Of Control

Posted 08-14-2023 at 08:05 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

My goodness, it's not just the temperatures that are hot in my home state of Texas. We've also got too much dry vegetation going on, and that means wildfires.

The Texas Wildfire Map online just shows too many locations with acreage that's burning. It doesn't really take much right now to start a fire, and you'd best hope that it doesn't spread quickly. Many prayers need to be going out, first and foremost, to our first responders who are working diligently...

Dusty Creeping Up On Sparky, But Likely Not Connie

Posted 08-10-2023 at 07:20 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker just keeps on keeping on. We watch as he continues to climb up the ladder of major league managerial wins, and this week, he's caught up to Bucky Harris.

Better still, he has surpassed him. Dusty is now number seven (7) all time for wins by a manager, sitting pretty at 2,159 after yesterday's win over the Baltimore Orioles. There's a chance that he'll catch Sparky Anderson quite possibly by season's end, but it might happen...

Folks, Please Stop Watching The Left-Wing Media

Posted 08-10-2023 at 04:16 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Saw something arise on Fox News Channel's "The Five" today that's very troubling. And that's as if the far left contingent in this country doesn't have enough to do already as they continue to distract America from Joe Biden's* endless scandals for which he still goes unpunished.

PBS' so-called news department has the gall to report that Americans need to go back to wearing face masks. My question is, "Why?" After all, COVID ended some time ago, and...

Your Writer Really Needed To Clean Out His Fridge

Posted 08-05-2023 at 09:24 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's a bit embarrassing. When you saw that title, the first thing that crossed your mind might have been "What did Ol' Case have for dinner or a snack today?"

That's what you thought, right?

Well, that wasn't the case. Not in the Case abode tonight, anyway.

No, your writer had to get some things out of the fridge that he hadn't had time to remove. These things were in the back of the fridge, and some of them had expiration...

Uninvited Guests At My Workplace, And The Guests Are Pests

Posted 08-04-2023 at 06:40 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Before you start thinking that Case might have new co-workers at his workplace, well, the answer, for now, is no.

It'd be pretty impossible to give a few crickets and roaches their own desks.

My maintenance guru at my office had been having a field day the last few weeks, what with him fixing parking lot lights and plugging a few rook leaks. Now, he's got to deal with getting rid of roaches and crickets lurking about, whether on the...
