Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

KAAM Nostalgia Gone From The Radio - But Not From Us

Posted 06-16-2017 at 03:59 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

This development took me by surprise. I hadn't even heard about it or read about it anywhere until I turned on my radio this morning.............to find some other programs.

KAAM-AM (770) in Dallas had been a source for big band and adult standards for years and had been --- and still is --- the number one online station with that format. Well, as I learned on the internet today, the radio station changed formats back on June 5, but we listeners can still tune in...

When Initials Can Mean Something Else

Posted 06-13-2017 at 06:51 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In the parlance of the times we live in, we do a lot of communicating by abbreviating or shortening even further down to bare initials. And I think, by now, you know how the drill goes unless you've lived underground in a dark cave for x number of years.

You can tell by the letters. LOL. FYI. AOK. OMG. BYOB. FOB. DOA. FWIW. WYSIWYG.

Stuff like that, you know.

But I'm thinking of one in which the words cannot be repeated...

Longhorns' Herman Gets His Cover, And Tell Dave Thanks

Posted 06-12-2017 at 11:56 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The Texas Longhorns football program is on the upswing. That much is certain. Tom Herman has created a level of excitement and anticipation not experienced since Mack Brown arrived on the scene.

Nevertheless, Texas Football magazine found it in its heart to put Herman on this year's cover. I plan to get my annual copy anyway, but this year will have a special meaning. New optimism abounds at the Forty Acres, and expectations will be high going into the new...

Finally Seeing New Lakeside Tower Project Come To Life

Posted 06-08-2017 at 04:23 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Like with any building under construction, it's always fun to watch something come up. And there's visibility on a highly-anticipated new Flower Mound, Texas, project that promises to be a game-changer for the immediate area.

The Lakeside Tower is no longer just a hole in the ground or a thought; it's now a reality. There are layers of floors being put together as we speak. When completed, it's going to grace the northeastern shores of Lake Grapevine and give...

The Hard Part Is Waiting.......For A Gift Card

Posted 06-06-2017 at 09:14 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

After eight months in the Brokerage department at work, we had an employee recognition just with that group and not my group plus four or five others. And we did a drawing to determine prizes for a job well done.

After a while, my name was drawn among several employees. Hey, not bad. It's amazing and surprising, the job that I've done at work. Looks like I've satisfactorily pleased the folks that matter, and they're recognizing it. Now, we've used...
