Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Birthday Cards, Christmas Cards: Make A List, Check It Twice

Posted 10-29-2017 at 08:31 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The more people I know, the more I've got to deal with marking my calendar for birthdays. And that includes new ones with people I've just met in recent months. Not only that, but in a few short weeks, it will be time to get Christmas cards and make a list and be sure I get enough for the folks at work.

Routine? Well, yeah. Such is part of the parlance of keeping in touch with great co-workers for the moments that are special. Today, I've worked on a birthday card...

Bogus Dates On Coupons --- Can The Coupon Last Forever?

Posted 10-27-2017 at 09:47 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In my mail, not too long ago, came some great things from the donut shop. I probably get something like this every other month or so, but in this latest offering, I saw something very unusual about these that no one else might have caught any other time.

Now, it takes human beings to type stuff in whenever coupons or any other printed material happen. And this had to be the work of a human being (Well, you know, we are human beings and not fake-oids), for these...

And I Had To Whip This Up In The Kitchen

Posted 10-23-2017 at 07:14 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

There they were in the fridge. Look at them. A long box filled with two rolled-up pie dough rolls, just ready for action. On my counter were two cans of Lucky Leaf, one with blueberry compote, and the other, apple compote filling. They both needed some serious attention.

This writer could no longer stand it. So, it became time to do some baking. I took one of the rolls and sliced it up into halves. I then took one of the cans of compote, ...

Frisco School Bands Ace UIL Competition....Again

Posted 10-23-2017 at 11:56 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

They did it again!

We just had another University Interscholastic League marching band contest, Region 24 Texas, this past Saturday in Little Elm, Texas, and Frisco's high schools did not disappoint. They continued a bastion of excellence by acing the competition.

All nine high school bands in Frisco received Division I (one) ratings at the contest. Superior ratings. They pulled it off. Once again, the Frisco schools shined, making the fine arts...

An Idea For Californians Tired Of The State Of Their State

Posted 10-23-2017 at 09:05 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 10-23-2017 at 10:43 AM by case44

We all know how bad things are in the state of California. Taxes are higher than you can imagine, illegal aliens have been allowed to run loose, and frivolous regulations are putting a damper on people's freedoms. All of this poses a problem. The people that put the citizenry in this mess belong to the Democrat Party.

Is there any wonder that more and more folks are leaving that state to go to other states? Businesses and corporations are leaving in droves for Republican-led...
