Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

It Just Feels Good, Really Good....

....to be back at a high school baseball field to watch some kids play.

Yep, this writer was at Wakeland High School in Frisco, Texas, tonight. Two very fine high school programs, Wakeland and Liberty, were getting after it on the field. And even though spring hasn't officially sprung yet on the calendar, you wouldn't tell the difference with our Chamber of Commerce weather. That is, until you've arrived at the Wakeland bleachers, where that cool breeze...

If It's Too Good To Be True, Then We Have Something To Look Forward To

I was just listening to The Bill Cunningham Show on my computer via KFYO-AM (790, 95.1 FM) out of Lubbock, and an absolutely remarkable discovery was made. It sounds too good to be true, what I'm about to share here.

We found someone who has made some incredibly accurate predictions for several years. His name is Dr. Gerard Lameiro, and you'll be amazed to learn what he did in the 2016 presidential elections. He actually predicted everything regarding the...

Springing Forward Into Blooming Green Leaves

Posted 03-09-2018 at 08:25 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Many of them are not around yet, but you know they will be. Just in my workplace's parking lot, I look forward with excited anticipation at the trees about to experience their usual spring ritual.

This weekend, most of us will set our clocks and watches forward one hour, and we'll also be waiting for that moment when the leaves start sprouting out on bare branches. Every year, when it gets to Thanksgiving, I look forward to March because there is more daylight...

Chain Reaction Of Chain Restaurants Disappearing

Posted 03-05-2018 at 09:22 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Through the mists of time, some things change, and others stay the same. When it comes to venerable eating places, they often go in phases. On other occasions, it's not a phase; it's more of a reality.

Two eateries come immediately to mind. El Chico had been a very active and popular Mexican food chain for seven decades. The franchise, based in Dallas, once had well more than 100 locations in numerous states. It had at least one location in every locale in...

American Idol Making A Comeback? Looks Like It

Posted 03-02-2018 at 06:20 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

How many of you out there didn't seriously think that American Idol would ever be back on television? I was one of those who didn't think so. We all thought that it had seen its better days, that it's a tired show, and all that.

Well, guess what is going to be showing up on ABC in a few days? None other than American Idol. And they'll have Ryan Seacrest as the host, just like when it was on FOX. The judges will be Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Katy Perry....
