Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Procedural Success: Three Years From Now? Try Five Years

Posted 12-03-2018 at 11:56 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

First of all, as time goes by ever so swiftly, you need to get your colon checked out. Just do it. Get that colonoscopy.

And that was what I did this morning, as I have done every three years or so for the past ten years. Coming out of the procedure area, I got the best news that any doctor, even the nicest of the nice, could ever give.

No polyps.

None. Nada. Zip. Zilch. And this is with a history of polyps. My...

Prepping The New Calendar In The Kitchen

Posted 12-01-2018 at 08:48 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)
Updated 12-04-2018 at 05:42 PM by case44

Each year at this time, I always head for the nearest bookstore just so I can get a new calendar for the upcoming new year. As is my custom and duty every year, I have to transfer some important dates from the previous calendar to the new one.

Hey, somebody's got to keep up with birthdays of a few important (female) co-workers.

But there are other dates worth remembering, like when the local fire department will be doing their annual inspection....

Time To Get The Christmas Tree Out

Posted 11-29-2018 at 08:21 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

By now, you've hopefully finished your Thanksgiving leftovers. That's all done? Good. Now comes the big stuff.

For me, my Christmas tree is so small that it only takes one minute to take from my closet and place upon my CD cabinet. For a lot of you others, however, yours is much larger and has room for many decorations. It also will take longer for you to set it up and, when everything's done, take it down. Christmas time is definitely upon us....

McNair To Be Remembered By Texans Fans

Posted 11-26-2018 at 01:09 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

This writer did not even get the news on this until I heard Rush Limbaugh mention this on the radio today. After finding out, I got my smartphone out to find some headlines. At the time, I was at a Lewisville car wash getting things tidied up when I did find out.

Houston Texans owner Bob McNair passed away on the day after Thanksgiving. He was 81. Reportedly, he had been battling health problems, specifically cancer, the last few years. McNair was a...

Les Miles At Kansas? Might Be Good For The Big 12

Posted 11-23-2018 at 02:22 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I've heard some co-workers say that this move will be good for the Big 12 Conference. Who would have ever thought that Les Miles would ever be hired as head football coach of the Kansas Jayhawks?

I see that no hands are raised.

Where the university is concerned, this is massive. At a school where basketball is king and football, well, isn't, this just gets Kansas back into respectable territory. Yes, it will be good for the Big 12 over...
