Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Even In Very High Winds, The Flag Still Flies Proudly

Last night, as I attended a high school basketball game, we had a cold front move through the area, and heavy winds preceded to blow. And then, I had this thought.

What if Old Glory didn't stay in place?

Yeah, I know; flags are tough enough and they've got rings and strong-enough attachments to keep them from breaking away in the harshest of weather conditions. But I also got to thinking of something else. That is this: Our American flag is...

Scattershooting / Perhaps I Should Jinx Alabama-Clemson

Ever have lots of thoughts go through your mind? I do, especially every time I get another urge to do some Scattershooting, right here on Case's Column, neatly tucked in on City-Data, where it's great to be alive. Well, fasten your seatbelts as we take off for another computer rouser. This proves once again that "Here, There, And Everywhere" isn't just simply an old Beatles tune.

I guess, in this day and age, you read so many different sources about a restaurant opening up, and a date is given. Such was one which I read over a year and a half ago. Grapevine (TX) officials were excited about the opportunity to open Central Texas-based Salt Lick Barbecue in their fair city.................by late summer 2018!

Maybe I've read the wrong sources, or the powers that be just can't cut a deal. So, a few days ago, I looked...

Eateries Are Dropping Ziosk --- What's Happened?

Posted 01-17-2019 at 08:30 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Revolutionary? You bet. It seemed like a good idea. Chances are, if you've gone out to eat at Chili's or Olive Garden or Abuelo's for the past few years, then you've run into an interesting-looking ordering tablet.

And now, this tablet is in trouble. More in due course.

That gadgetry I'm referring to is called Ziosk. I'm sure, at some point, you've seen one of those when paying for your favorite dish at your table, and with your fingertips...

The Attacks On President Trump Must Stop, And Fast!

While America basks in an improving economy, one where unemployment is at an all-time low, this nation is also drowning in a big culture problem. The economy's roaring, but the culture is a mess. President Donald Trump has been instrumental in getting our nation's economy back to a level it has not seen in about three decades.

And the culture?

The government can't fix that. This has to be something that only the American people can initiate....
