Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

The Masters: Still A Case Tradition, But Will Be Earlier Sunday

Posted 04-13-2019 at 03:38 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Mother Nature likes to play with people's emotions, doesn't she? Well, that's the scenario which we very well have for Sunday's round of The Masters, taking place at the greatness of Augusta National.

This writer really loves watching The Masters every year. I pick this over any other golf tournament on television, and they've got so much tradition. From the grand music theme by Dave Loggins to the lush green landscapes of Augusta, this is the next thing...

Is There Some Band Director Movement Going On Too Soon?

Posted 04-12-2019 at 04:15 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Sometimes, when one looks things up, one sometimes runs into things where he tries to get a grasp on things. And every now and then, a person's words may or may not be taken out of context.

I just happened to be looking up some band information about Texas Christian University and came across an applicant who is looking to get into TCU's faculty. I'll not reveal that person's name, but his resume somehow had gotten out online for all the world to see. He mentioned...

More Left Wing Hypocrisy: What Sanctuary City Mayors Really Think About Illegal Aliens

Posted 04-12-2019 at 03:51 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

We've been led to believe in the last couple of years that liberals will harbor and welcome any illegal aliens that come into their cities or towns. You've heard all the drivel from these crazed mayors, about how we'll take them in and that they shouldn't be deported because, in their eyes, it would be cruel. You've heard them say that their sanctuary cities will take them in.

So our friend Rush Limbaugh just disclosed some news that President...

Great Storyline For A Team From Lubbock --- And You Can Thank Knight

Posted 04-08-2019 at 04:30 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In many ways, regardless of how this latest NCAA men's basketball national championship turns out, Lubbock has Bob Knight to thank.

Oh, no, Coach Knight didn't directly win a national title with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, but he hired someone for his staff who can handle college students in a different sort of way. Chris Beard was just born to coach. That's right; Bob Knight hired Chris Beard and he ended up as assistant head coach. Never mind the other things...

There's Just Not Enough Bacon To Go Around

Posted 04-06-2019 at 08:25 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Case craves bacon.

Okay, so I had some for breakfast this morning, tucked neatly inside some scrambled eggs and cheese in a Whataburger taquito. And who doesn't like bacon, anyway? I'll have another opportunity Monday morning at one of my favorite places. There's a time and a place for the good taste of bacon, and there isn't enough to go around. Tomorrow morning, I pretty much need to chill out here, and I don't have bacon in my fridge (at least, at this...
