Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Thoughts Abounding On Early Sunrises

Posted 06-11-2019 at 08:31 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

While any day with a sunrise is a gift from God, there's nothing more special than the ones that happen before 6 a.m. during this very time of the year. It's always the time of year which I look forward to.

Since I go to work during daybreak hours, the fact that I don't have to miss it makes the experience more special. In fact, such sights make my day. And with sunshine in tomorrow's forecast, guess what this writer will find greeting his new work day? Mister...

Scattershooting / Waving Goodbye To Globe Life Park

Here we go with more Scattershooting for the masses out there in readerland. Kind of like a phrase from an old beer commercial, "If you've got the time, we've got the beer...." I may not be Miller beer, but I'm sure to give you a column that will fill you up as well as taste great.

********

I'll get a chance eventually, but Ol' Case really needs to save his money. Better not wait too long, because Globe Life Park as a baseball palace...

My Co-Worker Had A Nice Experience With The New I-35

Posted 06-06-2019 at 07:51 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Central Texas travel is in the process of getting better, mile by mile. It's not done yet, but it's getting there. If you've been on Interstate 35 between the outskirts of Dallas and the outskirts of Austin, no doubt you've seen vast improvement and a better driving experience.

Temple is not far from finished, but some lanes will eventually need to be added in Waco in the not-too-distant future. One of my co-workers visits Austin frequently. He's just been...

The Third Of June: A Day Of Desiree And Billy Joe

Posted 06-03-2019 at 06:04 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

In the world of pop music, this date has a significance that's historical. You may recall two songs with lyrics that contained the common date. The songs were released ten years apart from one another.

Phlash Phelps touched on this on his SiriusXM 6 morning program today, but this is June 3, a familiar date on two different songs. Neil Diamond and Bobbie Gentry shared two tales with the world when the time came. Bobbie went first with "Ode To Billie Joe",...

Rush Gives Powerful Perspective On Grim State Of Affairs In Cali

Posted 06-03-2019 at 04:15 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Yes, sports fans, things are really that bad in California. There have been more reasons for this writer not to visit Cali than otherwise, but you have to look at the big picture. This used to be a strong Republican hotbed. Conservatives once led the way for Cali's prosperity and economic success.

Thirty years ago.

Not today. The left wing has become unhinged and a contingent of full-blown extremism has corrupted a sizable portion of the Golden...
