Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

More Texas Road Work: What You Aren't Hearing About

In looking for an article mention, I'm surprised that the Texas Department of Transportation didn't touch on this in its District reports. Now, I haven't dug completely into all of the projects where the potatoes and gravy are, but I'm just stunned that this isn't in one of the big folders.

Laredo, Texas is seeing plenty of construction on Texas Loop 20 around the city's east side. Many of you already know about the northern portion of the expansion, concurrent with the...

It's High Time For I-19 To Hop On With Everybody Else

Posted 09-22-2019 at 09:46 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Once upon a yesterday, the powers that be who put together Interstate 19 in Arizona between Tucson and Nogales had decided to do something revolutionary and different. Instead of measuring distances in miles, highway officials decided on using the metric system. So, instead of miles, you'd see distances in kilometers.

I was just on Google Street View to take a tour of I-19. You've got your typical desert scenery that you get over most of Arizona....

They Always Come In Threes, And Just Waiting Now....

....for the third shoe to drop.

Music fans hate when their favorite stars, or those who have had success, pass away. Eventually, there will be "that time". There are still quite a few stars from the great 1960s decade who are still around (Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Peter Noone, Gary Puckett, Brian Wilson, and many others). Most recently, however, we've lost two who had the heights of their popularity in the decade of the 1980s: Eddie Money...

There's An Official Beer For Everything, But Did Coors Go Too Far?

Posted 09-14-2019 at 06:56 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I'll tell you this much: Pete Coors wouldn't even dare. Back in the day, the former Coors beer honcho had some of the classier beer commercials on television around the same time that Miller decided to bring out the comedy with numerous celebrities on their Lite ads.

But have you seen Coors ads lately?

I guess you could say that there's an official beer for so many of life's big human conditions. Imagine the official beer of Saturday morning,...

Case Makes The Case For Chiropractic

Posted 09-09-2019 at 01:28 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Chiropractic procedure works. There's no other way to put it. A little crack with the hand here, and a little modern acupuncture there, and....

And it came true at a good time. A few weeks ago, your writer was plagued by a few problems in his digestive system to the point where I had to miss a few hours of work. Like a nightmare, I was writhing in occasional pain and discomfort as all get out. Something in my system just wasn't right. I felt bloated and cramping...
