Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Dreams Realized As The Lakeside Tower Finally Approaches Completion

Posted 10-27-2019 at 09:02 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Moses wasn't exactly alive when this project started, but it certainly has felt like it, given the outrageous length of time it has taken just to build it. The Lakeside Tower in Flower Mound, Texas, is effectively (and finally) completed.

Okay, just a few more touches on the railings at the top floor, but it appears ready for move-in. If I get an opportunity to go in just for a visit, I'd love to look at that spacious lobby with a grand piano. Best of all is...

Plenty Of Mettle For A Metal Medal

Posted 10-23-2019 at 07:17 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I just typically don't celebrate Halloween. That doesn't mean, however, that Ol' Case can't have any fun at work.

Last year, I dressed up as a mob boss, and there really wasn't that much to it. This year, I plan to do something different, and again, there isn't going to be much to it at all. On a trip to the costume store, I explored possibilities like Elvis or a doctor coming out of surgery. The Elvis outfits were tough to get into (as you have to...

World Series Storylines Coming Back To H-Town: And Here Are The 'Natinals'

Posted 10-21-2019 at 08:44 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Who would have thought that the team that once got mistaken team spelling on their newly-ordered uniforms would make it into a World Series? For want of a better observation, this is the second Fall Classic with two former expansion teams and also the first with two teams sharing the same Spring Training facility.

Yes, sports fans, my Houston Astros have made it back to the World Series, this time against the Washington Nationals, one of the National League's Wild...

Cool that we have another first time matchup in the Fall Classic (5th time in last 6 seasons).

I'll be rooting for Houston.

Classical Music Still The Greatest Stuff Of All Time

Posted 10-13-2019 at 08:58 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Some of you out there may have spent some time on the Music forums, which I've been a part of for ten years now. I've posted different types of music during that time. People have seen me as the country gold guru, as I've spent extensive time reminiscing and playing the artists that have made classic country music great through the explosive growth years in the industry.

In this post, however, I need to take pause.

You see, I don't just listen to...
