Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Unless the brand you and I peruse happens to be Chinet, it's safe to say that most people don't know how to buy paper plates. And unless it's sturdy, then the food you plan to eat will wind up somewhere on the floor.

For the life of me, who the devil came up with the idea of flat, thin paper plates? The real thin ones look like something a kid colors in art class. How does anything last on it? At least, the folks at Chinet had the right idea on what a paper...

Two milestones are taking place with the Texas Rangers. First, the club finally has made their revelation of their field dimensions all around the new Globe Life Field. Secondly, the Rangers got new uniforms for their players.

Fallen Leaves --- And A Whole Mess Of Squigglies --- In The Work Parking Lot

Posted 11-30-2019 at 09:51 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

When the fall season is in the air, the one thing many people expect to see is the falling leaf. In the case of my workplace grounds, however, one leaf became many. Trees begin to empty themselves to the weather changes as conditions get cool.

But it also gets a little messy, because joining those leaves in the fall ritual are a bunch of squigglies. I've been told that those things come from acorn trees, which we do have around the building. Those squigglies...

This was a State Marching Contest advancement year for Frisco, Texas, area high school bands. And what a year it was! Frisco Independent School District sure has plenty to be proud of this school year.

In particular, the aforementioned contest saw three Frisco schools participating in it. All of them are classified as 5A schools in Texas. This year was the first time ever that three entries got to go; it's never happened before. Every two years, Class 5A...

Fifty Years After The Moon Landing, And No Title For The Astros

Posted 11-26-2019 at 05:31 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

You could say that the Washington Nationals had other ideas. All they did was spoil the Houston Astros' moon landing anniversary victory lap. Amid all the firsts associated with that one, here's something that the media never thought about in this year's World Series.

This year marked fifty years since Neil Armstrong and the boys landed on the moon in Apollo 11's famous mission. And wouldn't it have been something if the franchise with the space theme had made their mark...
