Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Reminded Of An Old Friend From The Airwaves

Posted 02-13-2020 at 07:12 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's amazing, the things you run into when you look at websites. And a prime example occurred while I was looking through RedEye Radio's website.

I just happened to find some excerpts of interviews involving a guy who used to be a staple of overnight radio. Many of you may remember Bill Mack, known to a lot of people as the Midnight Cowboy. He worked for a number of years at WBAP-AM (820) right here in my home base and was a fixture in Dallas-Fort Worth's radio scene,...

Case About To Undergo A Hair-Raising Experience

Posted 02-11-2020 at 08:06 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

If not for the encouragement of three enthusiastic (and good-looking) ladies who greeted me in a certain salon, then I might have second thoughts about laser hair removal. And that is exactly what your writer will soon partake in a few moons.

For years, I have desired to --- Are y'all ready for this? --- get hair removed completely from my back. I mean, come on, it's very unsightly and not very sexy. Chicks don't dig it. So, I decided to meet up with...

Sometimes, You Can Run Into Good Timing At A Grocery Store

Posted 02-09-2020 at 09:08 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Fortunately, I didn't have to get very many things for the week in my weekly grocery run. All I needed were basic necessities and a couple of dinner selections.

So this writer just simply took advantage. I just happened to have run into fifty percent off on a few items today. Two ham steaks together cost just $2.99. Not bad. Fifteen-piece shrimp cocktail? Just five dollars. Sliced celery sticks? Just $2.99 for that. Also got two dollars off a bag...

Early Spring, Phil? Yes, I'll Gladly Take It

Posted 02-07-2020 at 08:55 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Well, here's something you usually don't get two years in a row. And we just did.

Punxsutawney Phil, our favorite groundhog, did not see his shadow, so guess what? Early spring , particularly for the areas that are usually the warmest. Besides, the almanac sez that the coldest parts of winter for North Texas are just about behind us. As it is, this writer is just ready for March.

And the Vacation Man will be set to strike again, ...

You Just Need To Smile More ---- Much More

Posted 02-04-2020 at 08:38 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Think good thoughts, y'all.

Life really is good.

You have it so good, it's not funny.

No, really.

Turn that frown upside down.

Yes, just like that.

Again.

There you go.

Now, try laughing.

Yes, even on the blogs, you can.

It's okay to smile now and then.

Spread a smile or two hither and thether....
