Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Could Severino's Elbow Be The Yankees' Achilles Heel?

Posted 02-22-2020 at 07:05 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Baseball is getting going again, but in the case of the New York Yankees, injuries are providing a stop in the acceleration.

Amidst reports that pitcher James Paxton is recovering from having a cyst removed from his back and outfielder Aaron Judge is battling a sore shoulder, we have pitcher Luis Severino, who just started throwing again following some nagging forearm soreness from last year's playoffs. Well, guess what just came back? Severino has arm soreness again....

Longhorns' Recruiting For 2020 A Step In The Right Direction

Posted 02-18-2020 at 08:05 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Texas Longhorn football is going to look up. Things are going to get better. After what I would call an off-year, I believe head coach Tom Herman will get the program back in good stead. He just hauled in a top ten class.

If you take a look at this year's recruiting, then you'd have every reason to believe that Texas will be headed in the right direction. Good linemen, a great running back, a promising secondary, and two quarterbacks who may well succeed Sam...

Pelosi Display Spurs A Democrat Mass Exodus

Posted 02-18-2020 at 07:23 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Can things in Washington D.C. get any more stupid?

We had a great State of the Union speech in which several important people were recognized, such as a soldier reuniting with his wife, a 100-year-old Tuskegee airman, a 2-year-old toddler born of a woman having been pregnant just 21 months, U.S. Border Patrol officers, a mother and daughter seeking a better place of learning, and radio great Rush Limbaugh. All of them got a huge slap in the face....

Street Barbecue? Well, It Could Work....

Posted 02-16-2020 at 08:31 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

During my Saturday work lunch break, I ventured out to McDonald's for a quick bite. Once that was done, I took a local side street to get back to the office.

That being said, lo and behold, your writer saw something unusual. In fact, it was the second time and not the first time. That's because I remembered the last time I saw this thing happening, but somehow.........................well, forgot.

The 'thing' is a gentleman stopped...

Days Are Getting Longer As Time Change Draws Nigh

Posted 02-16-2020 at 08:18 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The calendar only sez February 16, but you know it's coming. In fact, it's four weeks away.

Sure, what you'll be thinking about is setting your watches and clocks forward one hour and finding a way to get your sleep and not get your body clocks out of whack. For right now, it's still daylight at 6:30 p.m. now, but you couldn't say that a month ago. I like this. We've got more hours of daylight building now. The sun is rising earlier now, with colors changing...
