Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Here's An Idea On How To Stop Big-City Violence

Posted 09-13-2020 at 09:24 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Want an idea on how to stop all of the stupid protesters, rioters, looters, and terrorists (which they are) from wreaking havoc on our big cities? Better yet, how about a strong message for government officials who continue to allow these acts of terrorism (which they are) in these cities?

Here's the solution: Revoke all major sports franchises from places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Seattle, Portland, Atlanta, Washington,...

Is The Coffee Shop Concept On The Way Out?

Posted 09-09-2020 at 07:03 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I hope not.

Look, folks, places like Denny's, IHOP, Village Inn, Perkins, and Carrows still have a place in the hearts, minds, and..........stomachs of Americans in many places. They may not have the popularity they once had some thirty years ago, but they haven't left us, either. You may remember a coffee shop chain called Sambo's, which had the same type of concept as a Denny's or a Carrows. These restaurants offer cushion seating at tables and booths,...

Roanoke's Oak Street Taking On More New Development

Posted 09-07-2020 at 06:21 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Something new always goes up in my little corner of the world. Just take a look at Oak Street in Roanoke, Texas, if you don't believe me.

Portions of the roadway are experiencing boatloads of new buildings, and I'm not sure yet what will take place in some of them. Some finished buildings near the central and northern ends still don't have tenants. At the south end, there is actually more progress. Los Compadres Mexican Cantina has already set up shop in a building...

Perhaps Lennon's 'Give Peace A Chance' Means Nothing To Today's Left

Posted 09-07-2020 at 05:27 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As you are able to see the destruction taking place in several of my great America's biggest cities, one would only wonder if peace could ever be achieved on our soil. Right now, our soil is getting soiled, sown by seeds of unnecessary hate and blame and prejudice. Despite efforts from conservatives and leaders to quell the politically-induced rioting, shooting, and looting, it seems like the left only has a desire to continue this madness.

Seems like we've forgotten...

I Still Like My Patio View At Sunrise

Posted 09-06-2020 at 08:50 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Aaaahhh, the pause in life. Then again, excursions into solitude are a part of life. For me, they just have to be set aside and taken.

Sometimes, it has to be that Sunday morning pause. The chair. The patio. The second floor (Yes, that does matter ). The quiet. The sun about to rise. It has to be, and Sunday morning at the Case abode offers all that. Best of all, it doesn't cost a dime.

This is one of those times when time itself...
