Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

What Are We Thankful For? Hey, Just Count Your Blessings

Posted 11-26-2015 at 07:17 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Thanksgiving in America is upon us once again, and I hope yours is a great one.

Sometimes, you can glean things from the simplest of conversations, and it happened tonight after my annual fowl play at the dinner table. My mother, ever the wise philosopher, had something to share that she noticed about me. She commented in a great way about how I like to stay upbeat all the time. Well, why not? It beats being depressed, for starters. Positivity just...

A Few Roadkill --- Er, RoadSIDE --- Thoughts

Posted 11-23-2015 at 03:02 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Driving around my local area affords me opportunities of various partakings. Sometimes I might see sights. And other times, I get sights neither you nor I want to see.

You know you're in Texas when you see a dead armadillo on the road. The place was none other than Frisco, TX, over by Wakeland High School late last week. Just the usual errand running that day when I came upon that dead armadillo. Look, it's one thing to have a dog or a cat pass away at the hands...

Face The Case: A Very Important Guest

Can you imagine if your favorite blogger decided to do a Sunday morning talk show on TV? Well, I've kind of wondered that myself for some time now, so why not try to do a different version of it (I'd say very different) right here on Case's Column for the masses to lactate on for the time you read it? You can say it's time for it now.

What would it look like? Well, since we don't have a means of transmitting TV signals here on City-Data, where it's great to be...

What I Wish KFC Would Bring Back

Posted 11-19-2015 at 02:42 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

As I am about to sit down to some good old, finger-licking good Kentucky Fried Chicken at the very humble Case abode, I look at my food offerings and think about the past. That's right, the past. Back to a time when things were different and KFC didn't have biscuits.

Look, I've got nothing against the biscuits; they're actually fantastic. It's just that I miss those soft rolls the franchise used to have in the days of yore. I'm sure you remember them if you lived...

E(I)nquiring Minds Want To Know, But Why?

You check out at your local grocery store, and you stop and take a look at different magazines. Where I am, you might see Better Homes & Gardens or Texas Monthly, but you also see tabloid, newspaper-style magazines. Oh, you know what those are. Star. National Enquirer. OK!.

For grins, chuckles, and head-scratches, I'll just pick on the Enquirer.

I get such a kick out of articles that are so off the wall, one has to wonder if these people...
